Schumann Resonance and it's effect on music
"Also, by generating the Schumann Resonance, there is an effect that it neutralizes harmful standing waves."This part of the explanation, I might add in fairness, might have a small grain of substance to it, though not much and actually the device...
Schumann Resonance and it's effect on music
Is Machina Dynamica behind this tweak? The explanations sound like snake oil to me. It may in fact work, but I do note that too loud a signal at that frequency should make you sick to your stomach and could even do you harm; and if it's set too lo...
Second failure of new amplifier
Does the amplifier exhibit the same behavior with the stock tubes? I would suggest putting them back in and seeing if the problem occurs again--if so, then the problem may not be attributable to the NOS tubes. I would not think tube rolling with t...
I was driving my wife's new 2008 Acura RDX
In all seriousness, while I don't like Bose systems, they do sound pleasing in the midrange and their philosophies of sound reproduction probably work decently in a car system (though I turned it down as an option in my wife's Audi). Does this new...
Preamp to mate with Krell KSA-50 mkII
My old Krell KSA 50MkII worked very well with an Audio Research SP11. ARC gear serems to work well with Krell amps, and I imagine CJ might as well.Keep the KSA 50, it is a remarkable amp.

Perhaps the room acoustics aren't the best. Have you considered adding sound-absorbing materials throughout the car's hard surfaces, such as the windows? :~)
Emm labs CDSD se & dcc2 se- any updates
I still think it's one of the best. Have not upgraded mine (it's an SE)nor heard of any upgrades as of yet. As my Jadis JP200 is off for a repair (Cap went bad after 10 years), I'm using my DCC2SE as a preamp--it's very good, lacks just that last ...
Finding a DAC that will process SACD's
Won't work. For a transport to pass a DSD signal, and for a DAC to take a DSD signal, requires a special interface. While some transport/DAC systems from dCS, Accuphase, Esoteric and EMM Labs, to name a few, exist, they are proprietary and limited...
How do you move a 650lbs Rack on Hardwood...
Not sure what the clearance on your casters or the MA roller casters is, but I had a guy build me a platform on which all my racks sit. That probably doesn't help you, but what it rolls on are the wheels you can get at Home Depot to put under your...
Wife wants a black faced receiver to replace Rotel
Trade on A-goN for a black one? I think they make them. Otherwise, somewhat comparable units would be Marantz (slightly warmer, in my recollection) and Arcam (a small step up).
The CD you most listened to back in 2007 ?
Like Dweller, the Pentatone SACD of Julia Fischer playing Mozart Violin Concerti 1, 2 and 5. Superb sonics and performances.
Using Krell rca & bal outputs for the same channel
I doubt they're missing, aren't they coming through your main speakers? You would certainly notice that big a gap in frequencies in any musical content. Just because there is an upper cutoff for the LFE channel doesn't mean that the output to the ...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Montepilot: The one Classic reissue of the Heifetz recordings that is problematic is the Bruch Scottish Fantasy. I love the reading, but there is a constant low frequency rumble in the recording (either subways or the conductor bouncing on the pod...
What is a Step-Up Transformer?
Not the same thing. It is a transformer that increases ("steps-up") the level of a signal from a low-output moving coil cartridge. You then connect the output of the transformer into the moving magnet input of a phono stage, where the signal is RI...
The definitive "Time Out" Release
Haven't compared it with the original, but the 45 rpm reissue on Classic Records is excellent, and I think it would be safe to say it betters the original at least in the areas of dynamics, transparency and bass extension, given my experience with...
