Any success with an indoor FM antenna?
I have had the same problem here in my townhouse unit, where I can't have an outdoor antenna.  Apart from the suggestion about an attic antenna, I agree with Spiritofradio's suggestion. In my case, I bought a Magnum Dynalab internet tuner and use ...
MORE Esoteric problems
Well, EMM Labs managed to fix my SACD reading problem; I'd say that they do have some spares.  I had been concerned but they have been more than helpful and accommodating in this process.
Best CD of Rachmaninoff's Third Piano C
Speaking of the cadenza, my favorite was an old recording with Andre Watts and Ozawa (NYPO), who combined the two cadenzas--the short one for the first part, the longer one for the second part. That recording also cuts out some parts of the second...
Krell Showcase preamp , how to connect headphones ?
If you fed the signal from your source via analog interconnects rather than the digital input, would it work?
Krell Showcase preamp , how to connect headphones ?
I wonder if the tape out is muted in normal operation unless you do something with the unit.  Did you try running from the normal left and right analog output jacks to see if anything comes out?
Great choral music on lp
Agree with trytone on the Deccas--also EMI, which did a Vaughn Williams series that was excellent .  The Robert Shaw Chorale did some recordings on RCA in the early stereo era, I have Deep River, a very good record of spirituals, as well as The Ma...
Am I the only one who doesn’t love Harbeth P3esr?
Obviously everyone hears differently, but I'm also surprised about the difference from the KEFs as well.  Have you tried lowering/raising the speakers a little to keep the tweeters on the same axis as you do with the KEFs and Klipschs?
ADCOM
The GFA 535 amp was reputed to be the sweetest sounding of the amplifiers, if you don't need the power of the 555.  I agree with Wolf, you should watch for issues related to age.
The Frankensteining of Amplifiers
IMHO, it's not necessarily a good thing.  As an example, Da Hong Seetoo used to modify Jadis gear, and while he made it objectively better from a measurements standpoint, some of us felt that the mods robbed us of the Jadis house sound that we wan...
The best speaker for a small room...at any price point.
I use Nola Micro References in my 11 by 14 room, along the long wall.  They work very well, and have excellent bass extension on their own,  I agree with the idea of smaller monitor speakers for a room of that size; you can try to integrate a sub ...
Wilson Watt Puppy 7
When I listened to WP 7s at dealers, they were usually using Audio Research VT200 Mk II or III to drive them,  Very good sound, though not really your classic tube sound.  Agree with georgehifi, I liked the WP7s best of all of the versions.
Elton John Tumbleweed Connection SACD Hybrid
The multichannel SACDs I own also have a stereo layer; just have to make sure your player is set to that.  Is this SACD different than others?
More Cowbell
Fun video!  Not rock, but Mahler uses cowbells in his 6th Symphony!
Best SACD hybrid Saint-Saëns: Symphony No. 3- Organ
I didn't think the Saint-Saens was that great on the Philly recording, but I do like the other pieces.  On my prior system the sound was actually excellent, again for the other two pieces, but it hasn't transitioned that well to my smaller system....
Best SACD hybrid Saint-Saëns: Symphony No. 3- Organ
There is an Ondine SACD of the Saint-Saens, a live performance by the Philadelphia Orchestra, Eschenbach conducting and Olivier Latry on the organ, which is quite good.  Latry likes the 32 foot stops and is a fine organist.  The real treat on the ...
