Best Liszt's Sonata in B?
While everyone has their favorite interpretations, my favorite, both sonically and interpretively, is Minoru Nojima's recording for Reference Recordings (Nojima Plays Liszt). Absolutely superb, demontration class recording-- and the playing leaves...
Wedding Music - Recommendations for Program
I second the Bishop's suggestions (as husband of a minister, I've been to a lot of weddings myself), both as to what to have and what not. The Handel Entrance of the Queen of Sheeba is a great recessional piece, although I don't know if there's a ...
So WHERE do you go to buy a Shure V15 Cartridge ?
Further to my last post, they do carry the current version of the V15 cartridge, and their price is too low to advertize, so you can e-mail them for a quote. Search under "jandr", you'll find them. Good luck, it's always been among the best MM car...
So WHERE do you go to buy a Shure V15 Cartridge ?
Not sure if J&R Music World here in NYC still carries them or discounts them as much as they used to in the old days (used to be about half off, I think), they're worth a try.
Why are there so many unopened amps, ect for sale?
The one instance I know of where I could have sold an item NIB was when I got a replacement from Mission for a continually malfunctioning CD player. Since it was a new model replacing a discontinued model, I paid dealer cost (Mission was more than...
Anybody know a company called Lectron?Swiss???
Lectron was a French electronics manufacturer that made a very nice-sounding, low powered integrated amp I heard years ago. Designer was Jean Hiralga, or something like that, very talented. Don't know if they're still around; haven't seen them in ...
Levinson or Krell
I have heard your speakers with a Krell FPB 200, ARC VT 200s and Reference 300 Mk IIs, VTL 150s and Lamm ML1s. Quite frankly, any of these will give you a lot of musical enjoyment; I thought the Krell to be too analytical for my tastes, but I'm a ...
Some thoughts about value in high-end audio
Can't argue his points about value, as I've found that while the pricier equipment I've acquired over time is ultimately better in most ways than the less expensive items it replaced, principally in the areas of refinement, they certainly aren't a...
Music to die to
The final movement of the Brahms German Requiem, the Durufle Requiem or the Faure Requiem. Might as well get in a peaceful mood.
Why get an expensive tuner?Am I missing something?
Drubin: With respect to digitization, you may be thinking of taped concerts, like the Detroit Symphony concerts and others (which I'm assuming are digitally taped). Quite frankly, I can live with that to hear live performances of top-notch orchest...
George Lucas using B&W Nautilus 802 in his studio.
Can you imagine a listening room setup like that? You might get just what the producer heard, but do you really think you'd enjoy the result? I'm talking not just about the speaker and amplifier choices (which clearly will reveal what's on the mas...
Why get an expensive tuner?Am I missing something?
I can say that until I got a Day Sequerra I was content to use the tuner for background music. Once I heard what a great tuner could do, I got a top notch outdoor antenna with a rotor and have been listening a lot more seriously since. A great tun...
Recommended amp for Quad 57.
I believe that the Jadis JA 30s (if you don't need to listen loud) and 80s are a match made in heaven with this loudspeaker. Worth considering if you can swing them.
Which comm. speaker mfgr. makes the best cabinet?
Actually, I'm wearing my Rockports at the office today. High end shoes with "sole", baby!
PsAudio 300?
You should, of course, check the archives, as there are a lot of posts on this topic. I've had one a few years now, which I use for my digital gear without separate power supplies, and I'm very happy with it; blacker backgrounds, lower noise floor...
