What's Absolute Best Upsampling CD Player $2K-$3K?
(1) Electrocompaniet is out of business; and(2) There is no agreement that upsampling CD players necessarily sound better (the ARC CD3 Mk II at $5k, and the Zanden DAC at $15K, are two great players that intentionally avoid upsampling).
Looking for an amp to drive Eidolons Vision.

Dedicated CD Player Recommendation
I have an ARC CD3 that goes for roughly $2,500 used.It is very solidly built and is a sophisticated, balanced performer that forced me to sell a ML 39 tranport and 360s DAC combo. The only caveat is that it's a top-loader. I think it compares quit...
Jeff Rowland 302 or Conrad Johnson Premier 350
Thf:In my opinion, the Lamms hybrids are very competitive with other top-shelf solid-state amps, the downsides being a slightly dark character that requires a bit of system matching or tube rolling, they produce a lot of heat, and I think they are...
Anyone familar with the Swan line of speakers?
I believe Swan is former Stereophile contributor Dick Olsher's company.
Jeff Rowland 302 or Conrad Johnson Premier 350
As both are made by respected manufacturers that have been around for many years, one would think that the Rowland is more amp, as you do tend to get what you pay for in life and the Rowland is significantly more expensive than the c-j. What you s...
tubes or no tubes
Many people who are unfamiliar with electronics initially react to tube gear as if it were some obsolete technology that is only appropriate for hi-fi geeks with slide rules in their shirt pockets.Tube preamps, tube DAC's and tube tuners are for t...
What's the better, High Powered SS Amp?
You have been clear that it is solid-state that you want, but is this because you envision buying an inefficient speaker like the mbl's? I ask because there is one tube amp that works particularly well with the big mbl 101, the CAT JL-3 (or the pr...
I want profoundly better bass
Sounds like you have a fair amount of cubic feet in that room.At that price point, B&W Nautilus 801 or Vienna Acoustics Mahlers come to mind. Both produce prodigious bass that usually sounds boomy unless the speakers are driven by the right am...
Which is the best solid state poweramp under $9000
I do not know about your Maggies, but I know of several dealers who frequently pair Rowland with the B&W Nautilus line.
HZ.....How low for full range music???
Most people will probably say "20 Hz.", but it is arguably neither necessary nor desirable to have a speaker that is flat all the way down to 20 Hz.One reason is that most rooms amplify very low frequency signals (the phenomenon is called "room ga...
Need help to find Solid State Amp for Dunlavy SCIV
I read that Andrew Rigby, formerly of Dunlavy, was particulary fond of the 75 watt/channel Rowland Model 2 with the SC-IVa, but I do not know if this is in fact true. Respected Audiogon member Sean suggests very powerful amplification for the Dunl...
Help choosing tube monobloc's
Sonic Frontiers is, as I am sure you know, no longer in business, but I understand that service can be obtained through a sister company, Anthem.A close hi-fi friend of mine had the Power 3's for over four years. They were incredibly reliable (the...
