Vintage worth the time to explore?
If you get something from the 70's what might be helpful for you is most stuff had a "loudness" switch that will give you that warmth at low volumes. The marantz you mentioned probably has one.
Cornwall IV or La Scala vs the big boys
One thing I will say about either of those klipsch is if you listen to music late at night at low levels you will need an amp that can produce good dynamics at low power levels as they are very efficient. I think both are 105db.
Do speaker cables really make a difference ?
I keep seeing comments about the different sound you get from different cables. I don't want cables with a "sound signature" I just want my cables to send through what is there not change it. This takes us back to simply proper gauge for length an...
Do speaker cables really make a difference ?
In my humble opinion if the cables have sufficient insulation and are the correct Guage for the power you have and high conductive core. anything more is a waste of money!!
What is the forums opinion of SVS subs?
I have the svs sb16 ultra it took a little more work to tune them with my tekton's than my klipsch but once I got it there you can' tell where the sub ends and the mains begin. I also got the svs isolation feet that work really well I have also pu...
Considering Towers in the $3000 range
I have not heard the tekton double impact but I have had my moabs for almost 3 years and they still put a smile on my face.
Where did you buy your first audio gear?
Pacific stereo in Berkeley CA. I was 14. The receiver and speakers were a house brand called Trans audio made by Tandy Corp. For pacific stereo and turntable was a bsr with a shure cartridge.
I have seen a lot of ideas concerning Cable lifters
If this is a problem maybe you should question the insulation on the wires.
When a budget speaker is preferred to a high end one...
Without being able to hear them I took a chance on tekton. Only thing I can say is I have no regrets about that decision. They are not pretty but as an audiophile I only care about the sound.
Owning Up To It
1977 Oakland  CA. Day on the green led zeppelin delayed 4 hrs because they were in jail.
When a budget speaker is preferred to a high end one...
This subject is why I own tekton design.
Was my friend given misinformation.
As most integrated are 2 channel I would say they are more like a 2 channel receiver without the tuner. Either way the point is your cramming more into the same size box so sacrifices have to be made..
What's the heaviest speaker you've ever owned? What's the tallest?
Tekton moab. They are taller and about 30lbs heavier than my klipsch klf30. If you count subs my svs sb16 is about 5lbs heavier than my tekton's
