I Tunes Backup
I use a Cavalry 1TB external HD ( mirror back-up system). It wasn't cheap, about $450, but all of my iTunes library is backed-up on it and sitting on the shelf. Since the entire library is also in iTunes on the iMac internal HD there is no need to...
iMac Users - Help No Output to System
Many Thanks to Mb9061 and Gherreal for your responses. You have been a big help. Here's what I know (now). First, when the minijack is plugged into the iMac it does glow red on the other end so we know the iMac is functioning properly.Second, the ...
Charlie Haden fans
Thanks for the tip Philefreak. I've got a bunch of Charile Haden in my library. I like his laid back piano stuff but have never enjoyed all that crazy trumpet stuff that many associate with jazz - just my preference, nothing more.
Who needs power cables anyway?
Whew! Yes, I feel a lot better now Keithmundy! LOL! Personally I don't see why it wouldn't work. I'm sure that with every great invention came a host of detractors and naysayers! Let us know how it works and if you can tell the difference - just d...
Who needs power cables anyway?
I have no idea if this is a good idea or not but I gotta say - You sure made me laugh, not directly at you, but rather at the lengths us audiogoners will go to eek out a degree of better sound. Like the reviewer on another thread that ran the exte...
External DAC vs. your quality processor
Objective1; Thanks for the response - Just to be sure I have it right - can I assume then that in the computer to Bel Canto to Krell 400xi set-up that you prefer the DAC work in the Bel Canto to a more direct Computer to Krell (digital in) set-up ...
External DAC vs. your quality processor
Shadorne: Thanks for taking the time. I appreciate your comments.
External DAC vs. your quality processor
Shadorne: Out of curiousity, what processor were you using in the comparison?
Sub-woofer/ Source for MAgnepan MG 1.6s
As a Maggie owner myslelf (3.5s and 20.1s) I tend to agree with Philjolet. I rarely hear my sub kick-in because the Maggies handle bass so well without it. To some extent it depends on what kind of music you like. If you like loud rock and bass sl...
Review: PS Audio Power Port Premier Tweak
Brian: I really wish I hadn't seen your review having just purchased 7 of the apparently obsolete PS Audio Power Port receptacles (still in their little boxes) but OTOH it was one of the most entertaining reviews that I have ever read. Ordinarily ...
ugly tweak
A friend did that to our TV once during a visit and the change was noticeable. Of course WAF was low and right now there is no other place to put the TV but perhaps you simply buy a "designer blanket" and call it good. HA!! I liked Fpeel's comment...
Squeezebox Classic - Do you like it?
Prixel: Thanks for your response - I was disappointed to hear the comment about SS amps thinking I had made a mistake in search for acceptable levels of sound quality. You have given me new hope!! Your experience with a variety of processors is fo...
Squeezebox Classic - Do you like it?
Thanks Prpixel: My processor does not have USB "in" so it would have to be Toslink. I have been told by a knowledgeable individual that there are no surround sound pre-amps on the market today that employ quality DAC systems which leads me to beli...
Squeezebox Classic - Do you like it?
I did read in a review about Squeezebox that Red Wine manufactured a battery power supply that would work with SB. I'll have to see if I can find it and post it here for you.Let me ask one more question here: If one gives up the convenience of wir...
Large listening room
Don't give up on the Maggies! I've had the 3.5's and since upgraded to the 20.1s. IMO nothing fills the room like Maggies. They are available in great black/cherry trim motif. A reputable dealer should let you experiment with them in your own room...
