Mapletree Audio versus Decware preamps nope, not yet the good doctor had eye surgery a few weeks back so things have slowed a bit, expect it later this week or next - getting through canadian customs,
Blind Shoot-out in San Diego -- 5 CD Players It seems the possible permutations, variables, and what ifs that could be tested or considered for assessing 5 players would make a real, complete, and absolute shootout almost impossible in real life, if not theoretically. I do think you have to ...
Why do no audio enthusiasts use McIntosh? They have good hearing?
Which cost more: your system or your car? House, System, Car, Watch, Bike.
Why do no audio enthusiasts use McIntosh? If I were listening with my eyes, I think Mac would do pretty well:)
Dunlavy SCIV - What amp are you using? The RM10s can be mono bridged for 70 watts - alot of EL84 power. The OTLs do like high impedance, but smoothness is very important and you can use the Spelts autoformers to raise the impedance load the amp sees.
Dunlavy SCIV - What amp are you using? No_regrets, I see what you mean about easy load - what I fine odd is that anyone would choose to use a powerful SS amp when a low powered tube amp (40 watts seems enough)or low powered Class A (not Classe)SS amp (60 watts?) would do the trick. I d...
Large brass devices on top of power amps ? Chalres1dad, Tpreaves also makes a good point - should any well designed piece of gear require any additional external weight to improve its performance based on vibration damping? Or is it just another product niche offering audio benefits that e...
Large brass devices on top of power amps ? I use edensound stuff from Vermont Audio - very well made and not to expensive - on the other hand I'm not at all sure I can hear a difference on my EMM Labs CD Player or Atma-sphere preamp - so either the gear is designed well, or I don't hear we...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever? But there is no output impedance optimization based on dial position 10-12-2 o'clock - is that right? Some attentuators seem to have optimal positions in that sense.
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever? That's what it sounded like to me. It seems that light loading is effective at dealing with speakers that have hard loads for tube amp and it improves the situation - with the Merlins and Audiokinesis Jazz I suspect the extra power of the 8 ohm ta...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever? I've light loaded the RM10s and RM9s and prefer the 8 ohm tpa with the Merlins - in part, this must be because the VSMs are not speakers seaking more damping from the amp, so it might be very speaker dependent. There is a thread on Audio Circle li...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever? Do you think the 12ohm nominal benefits you with light loading because you lose less power output? I think your "light loading" with the 8 ohm tap with your speakers.
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever? Wilsynet, I agree with everything you just said, and the Merlins, like the Zus are very benign loads, and efficient enough for 35 watts. I think, not always sure, that my preferred system is the all Atma-sphere rig, but the LSA with my RM10s and R...
Dunlavy SCIV - What amp are you using? They do seem to be paired with Classe quite often, not sure why, but of course they do make good SS amps. Are they like Thiels and B&W in that they really are best suited for highish powered SS amps, and only the most powerulful, high current ... |
