$3500 to spend on a tube preamp....ideas?
Mechans, that is why I think I would love the DeHavilland as well, it sounded great at RMAF. Now that I think about it, my Atma-sphere preamp also makes use of the 6sn7, but as you say, everyone has their preferences....

I beleive it would have to be a Joule LA 150 MKII if wanted to upgrade to the SE version at a later date - taking an great preamp to start with and making it even better, most noticeably in bass performance, which is already first rate, which I pr...

$3500 to spend on a tube preamp....ideas?
I prefer the Lightspeed to my most recent tube linestages - CAT, Lamm, ARC, Dodd, and the excellent Joule LA150 Signature Edition - I would save the $3000. That being said, the Mapletree 2A SE $800 with the Blackgate Capacitor upgrade is very, ver...

warm sounding amp suggestions???????
How much wattage do you need for the Alons? Certainly Pass Alephs are warm for SS - might find them in the price range, if 30 watts is enough.

Most performing musicians seem to spend as much time and money on home stereo as your friend, they tend not to be audiophiles - hmmmm.
Proper use volume control?
Direct connection between 2v source and amp would tear up your speaker drivers at some point in the music, proper funtion of a volume control is to attenuate the signal.
Proper use volume control?
"The wider the range of the volume you can listen, the better preamp you probably have." - other equipment as well.

Brf might be on to something.
Best Integrated, period.
That would be delightful if we could arrange it.
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Well, today my wife bought me the Monk bio by Robin Kelley (great writing), so of course I immediately put on Monk's The London Collection: Vol II with McKibbon and Blakey....
Best Integrated, period.
What do you think of the DA30 versus DA60 assuming 30 watts is more than sufficient to drive a speaker?
