Re: What are the Best Speakers a $1000 could get?
I think what he means is that once you find speakers you like, then you know what you need in an amplifier and the speakers will determine the sound of the system to a much greater degree so you should decide on it first, and the speaker will driv...
Joule SE Upgrade
Kjo, I don't think you can go wrong with the SE version. I had the MKII and sold it, and I sold it when I bought Atma-sphere amps and wanted a balanced preamp (also Atma-sphere), but I now also use a Music Reference RM9 Special Editiom, so I bough...
NOS 12AU7s with Ayon amps
I would second the RCA recommedation, both Blackgate or Clear Tops. The Clear Tops as pretty avaaible and not too expensive yet. Try Brent Jesse or Vintage Tube Services for these and other options.
Would Epos speakers take full advantage my amps?
Are you asking if there is a better sounding speaker to match with QS at that size, or at that price? For the size and price, the Epos are certainly competitive with anything else out there, but there other speakers better than the Epos, sure, but...
Suitable tube preamp for pass labs x250
I would pay attention to what Tvad said. Great preamps won't sound so good if not matched properly with the input impedance of the amp. One fine tube preamp that can qualify would be the Joule LA150-MKii with the MU follower engaged (400 ohm outpu...
Modest Preamp Upgrade?
Signal cables are quite well made and spec'd from what I can tell. A little up the price scale and worth considering are the cables from VH Audio, but my impression of the Signal stuff was that it was pretty good.
Transitioning from Tubes back to SS
I think the Pass and Ayre gear will give you some of what you are looking for from SS.
Interconnects to use
I would take a look at the offerings from Signal Cable company, well made and sane prices.
Integrated tube amp for Coincident Super Eclipse
I agree with the Almarro 318 recommendation, certainly should be on your short list.
Cary SLP 98L or deHavillanrd Mercury 3?
I think the deHavilland will be more nuetral. I would also look into the CAT SL1 Ultimate. Never heard the SLP-05.
Baby Steps back to Tubes.
Sorry, misread your question. Then yes, hard to beat a Pass X series for driving a speaker like yours (the XA.5 series might be better a yet, but a lot more $$$ for the watts). Another SS brand to consider is Ayre or Symphonic Line (German), if yo...
Baby Steps back to Tubes.
Has2be, is your question then what 30-60 watt tube amps do we recommend? Pauly, of course is right about that speaker with tubes. So are you just looking for tube amp recommendations of certain wattage and our price points? Seems you are already d...
Shindo pre w/ Quicksiler amps a good match
Fjn04, I remember now. Yes, the V4s are wonderful amps - reliable, well engineered, and very good sound. But, I think you will find it hard to find a better sounding 35 watt amp than the Music Reference RM10, but it is a matter of sufficient power...
Shindo pre w/ Quicksiler amps a good match
I agree with Jaybo and Bnrlaw comments about the QS and compatability in general. Since you don't need a lot of power, I would try the Music Reference RM10 that uses EL84s for output. It lists for 1,995 but there was a summers sale for 1295 or som...
"Tube Like" SS Integrated Amps
I second the Portal Panache, has alot of that Pass sound (tube like SS)
