What are the speakers you very rarely find in the Used market(Audiogon or Anywhere)?
Agreed with some earlier people.  For popular speakers, the Devore O/96 are rare and go fast. For less known but great speakers that are very rare in the used market:   Waveform.
Thiel CS 3.6 vs 3.7
I'm a long time Thiel fan -  I own old Thiel 02 speakers, owned the Thiel CS6,  then later the 3.7 and the 2.7.Been a long while since I heard the 3.6s but I have a decent memory of the sound.Taste is subjective of course, but IMO Jim's last desig...
Totem Hawk a underated "Jewel"
jboatrightThe latest version of the Totem Acoustic’s Model 1 certainly has the house sound, and so did all the Totem speakers I heard playing at my local dealer about a year or two ago.  IMO.

I find all the handwringing about whether a well designed solid state amp will drive the 3.7s surprising, given, as I've said, they were driven with aplomb, as loud as I could stand, by 140W of tubes (and even with a 14W integrated Eico amp).But.....
Anyone Using Harbeths with Grilles off?

The conclusion I've reached about speakers

Totem Hawk a underated "Jewel"
A local dealer has sold the Totem line for 20 years and my friends have owned Totems.I find Totem speakers have an initially attractive sound - warm enough in the lower mids and bass, then they get uneven as you get to the upper mids to high frequ...
How do you feel about a wheeled dolly permanently under large floorstanding speakers?
capnr,I was in a similar situation.I used to have my listening room in a configuration where it was easy to place any loudspeaker relative to my listening sofa.   But then I had to flip the position of the listening sofa 180 degrees in order to se...
A move from Harbeth to... Wilson?
To address what I don’t like about the Harbeths, that would cause an upgrade "itch" to be scratched? It’s hard to say - they do from time to time sound a bit "boxy" on big, orchestral stuff. I understand what you mean about the "bit boxy" thing.I ...
smaller speakers for critical listening?
northman,Honestly it depends on what speaker I'm in to at the moment.   I just got an LP I've been waiting for and I'm excited to cue it up on the Joseph Perspectives (which are set up because, after a while of listening to the Spendors, I got the...
smaller speakers for critical listening?
With the right track, when I close my eyes even the tiny Spendors can sound about as big as my floor standing speakers! However, other content will sound decidedly smaller.(Basically if it's a recording that contains instruments and voices recorded...
smaller speakers for critical listening?
I'm of two minds about answering the question. Can a stand mounted monitor be satisfying to listen to?Hell yes!Can it be satisfying in the long run as the only speaker to own?Not so sure, for me.I usually own multiple speakers, though I've cut down...
Contemplating DEVORE SPEAKERS (and others)....LONG audition report of many speakers
KeithrThanks for letting me know."strident and wiry" is exactly what I heard from the D7, and another A model in the Spendor line.   I'm a bit dubious that the .2 versions would have totally fixed this since it seemed the more forward sound is a d...

One of my CJ amps had to go in to the shop momentarily and an audio-pal lent me his Bryston 4B3:https://www.soundstagehifi.com/index.php/equipment-reviews/1073-bryston-4b3-stereo-mono-amplifierI tested it on my Spendor S3/5s and then my Joseph Aud...
My thoughts on TT isolation methods.
As I detailed in my long turntable isolation shelf construction thread:I tried tons of materials, pucks, sorbothane, woods, you name it, including Townsend Seismic Pods, to see which would produce the most isolation from exterior mechanical vibrat...
