MC cart, can I use MM phono preamp?
very good answer from Stanwal, and if you want to stay with the Shelter and your MM phono is good, get the Shelter 411...
thorens or emt?
apples and oranges...you would have to decide what cartridge you want to use and what music to listen to the most first....
Retubing my McIntosh MC2102
ditto for the Genalex KT 88's.....

Don Garber's Fi X is also there!!!

McIntosh Vintage Preamps
agree, but if you really want, the C29 and C33 are the best from the "golden era" the C28 was the first to be considered, but it has some serious technical problems and parts are not readily available for these older units(C24,26,28)

Upgrade from TW Acustic Raven AC-3 to what?
Go for the EMT table....studio sound is the best!
virtual dynamics new ultra clear interconnects
Bigal you do not remember "bailout" ?
Garrard 301 or 401?
I would go for 401 if you mainly listen to rock...it is newer design and about in that era. Both these tables benefit with updates and dedicated power supply!!!especially if you want the timing right for your rock music!
I need help with my Equipment addiction
Get a stingy wife...
multiple TT, need 1 adjustable phono preamp
why just to have different step-ups and switched input? For tables like Garrard and Thorens I think you will use something like SPU anyway...
Garrard 401 or Thorens Td 124 II
Both, but with modern arm and cartridge......
Recommend me a quality power cord extender?
I prefer wood. You just jig-saw the holes for the plugs and make some sides.Bottom can be open or use piece of aluminum or copper....you may also experiment with shielding the inside, but that is a different story!
