A Couple Little Things I'm Wondering About
cable lifters: snake oilRCA shorting plugs: will protect against noise interference that may possibly occur at the unused rca terminals. Shorting them guarantees no signal, noise or otherwise will feed into your device.@cakyol +1In addition, some...
Mic for recording sound demos ?
The Yeti is easily good enough to do the job and will outperform the dynamics especially at high frequencies... the built-in ADC pretty good as well. I suggest you check you're getting the most out of the Yeti by checking your gain settings to ens...
Current equipment similar to ancient DBX 14/10 and/or 20/20 computerized equalizers?
If you just want the measurement and analysis facilities then it'd be worth looking at a calibrated mic from miniDSP and computer software like REW or fuzzmeasure.
Game Changing Tweak
@millercarbonmy system would degenerate to the point it would be merely clearly superior to theirs. So no-one's allowed to have an opinion until they've bought every piece of pseudo scientific junk they can lay their hands on but you're able to com...
Line conditioner...
There is a slight hum at the conditioner closer than 2 feetIf that's from the conditioner itself it is likely to be mechanical, should just be a matter of finding the right screw to tighten.Have you tried the same test without having the condition...
Game Changing Tweak
only the ones who have tried it should have a say on whether it works or notI really don't get this argument... So to to take a completely imaginary scenario: Someone has a product and is unable to provide any evidence that it works, they can make...
Line conditioner...
HELLO!!@ebm  Oh that's nice... hello to you too!I don't think I've read anywhere what 'dirty power' actually sounds like. I'm just interested in what the problem is that a Power Conditioner fixes... I think it's down to the amplifier designer to r...
Line conditioner...
Can someone explain what ’dirty power’ sounds like. You can short the amplifier audio inputs (not absolutely necessary as long as you remove any interconnects) and turn the volume right up and all you’ll hear is any noise from the internal compone...

This is a great article on the subject by Siegfried Linkwitz... jump to section 3 if you're impatient and 3.2.1 for his '5 requirements'
Cheap/expensive or expensive/cheap?
If the the main conductor is copper, ICs are coax, the speaker cables are the correct gauge, neither are excessively long and both make good contact with the sockets then they'll be about as good as a cable can be. In an electrically noisy environ...
amp pre amp matching
In the manual they stated that >60k/<100pF is for optimal resultsThat's a low load capacitance... as a rule of thumb coaxial interconnect works out at about 150pF a meter so you might want to factor the cable length in. BTW low cap coax is a...
Starting from scratch and seeking advice as to how to proceed...
I completely agree with @djones51 for an AC motor however that TT runs from a 15VDC wall wart so the mains frequency shouldn't matter and a quick look at the label should tell you whether it'll run off 110VAC... my guess is that it will. If not it...
Capacitors for HP filters in tube amps recommendations?
I said, "personally".       You’re welcome to your opinion, if you have one regarding time-constants (which is to what I referred, but- you never addressed) and anyone else’s, that you value.I was trying to be helpful, not make anyone wrong... I'...
Capacitors for HP filters in tube amps recommendations?
Personally; I never paralleled capacitors, unless they were identical, to avoid any possible time-constant disparities. That's not a concern... capacitors in parallel will just sum in value (like resistors in series)... the source and load won't se...
Are integrated amps technically better than separates?
I believe either topology can be as good as the other, it's just down to the price you want to pay for the functionality you need... personally I prefer separates. My preamp has inputs for MC (transformer) and MM cartridges, four other analogue in...
