USING SPEAKER TECHNOLOGY TO KICK OPEN DOORS
Wow, I've gotta say this is one thread I didn't see coming. What's next? Maybe adapting blu-ray lasers for interrogation!Oh, the poor SWAT guy has to carry a heavy implement of destruction up flights of stairs before he can crack heads and shoot p...
Mains Out
The simple solution would be to swap the positive and negative speaker leads on the amp using the inverted inputs. If you invert both the interconnects and the speaker leads the absolute polarity will not change and all will be well.
Whole house surge protection
Yeah, anytime I've tried surge protection with a transformer it has limited system dynamics. Now I'm using different filtering and power-regenerating devices from PS Audio and they seem to work very well... providing improved sound quality and musi...
Sixto Rodriguez
I have to agree. Sugar Man is a terrific movie and the fact that it's a true story is the icing on the cake. The vast majority of people who've seen it have rated it 5 out of 5 stars and that doesn't happen often. And apparently this guy (Sixto Rod...
need an amp...
Two things: The Vandersteen 2CE is likely not the best at bass articulation and secondly, your muddy bass problem could be largely due to the acoustic properties of your room or the speaker's placement within your room.
Denon 103 output--Step-up needed?
If you're asking the question you likely need the step-up transformers. Or, to put it another way, if you plug it in to your existing phono stage and don't get adequate volume then you need the SUT.
Tricky Room Geometry Question
Jhsjhs, the Lyngdorf gear comes up now and then. Just keep watching the ads and you will likely find one before too long. You might also try contacting Neal Van Berg at: http://soundsciencecat.com/about.html He seems like an honest dealer and may h...
Tricky Room Geometry Question
A Lyngdorf DPA-1 digital preamp with RoomPerfect room correction could well work wonders in a room like yours.I use one in my large-room system that has a high vaulted ceiling and openings to a hallway, stairway to 2nd floor, and a kitchen opening...
Past Wyred4Sound STI owners
I've owned the STI-500 for over 3 years and I can't think of any amp in its price range that I'd rather have in my system... even considering tube amps. It actually replaced a Cary Audio CAD 120S tube amp which was noisier, slower, and not as deta...
What are the "new" brands in amps and pre-amps
Wyred 4 Sound has some excellent amplifiers, integrateds and preamps at very reasonable prices. You should go to their website and have a look. I've been using their STI-500 integrated high-power amp for over 3 years now and I'm still impressed wi...
Help me put a system together for my son
In my experience the MMG's are pretty light in the bass as compared to the more full-bodied but older SMGa's. The MG12's are pretty good too (more bass than the MMG's) but will cost more. You might well want to consider a pair of the Tekton Design...
Poor sound from rental Blu-Ray discs
Don't know, but I did watch Looper on Blu-ray from Redbox last night. Redbox rents Blu-ray discs for $1.50. The audio was full DTS HD Master Audio and it sounded great. But I know that in order to get the Hi-res codecs like Dolby TruHD and DTS HD ...
HELP Best speakers btw 1000$ and 3000$. Real tests
I'm going to have to say the Tekton Design Lore-S for $1399/pr would be my first choice. They also make the standard Lore for a larger room at around $1000/pr that has a 10-inch main driver as opposed to the 8-inch high-quality Seas driver in the ...
Niche label, ultimate audiophile quality
I just downloaded the sampler CD from here:http://www.occds.org/cd/cd000.html
How do I smooth out violins?
I think the tube preamp is a good idea along with the cables and power conditioning measures that Elizabeth mentioned.
