help me make sonos better I also feel your pain! For the past year I have been planning on a music server rather than purchasing a new CD deck. Couldn't decide between a stand alone like a Fireball or building a PC/MAC something, however I did not want it based on iTunes. ...
Good amp for B&W 804S for the space-constrained I'm also using the Wyred4sound class D amps on a pair of 802D's... no thoughts of changing. You need 300-500 hours for the amps to be at their best. I am bi-amping the speakers, 250's and 500's. All the current B&W's need.
When It All Comes Together-Heaven Actually, I had the opposite experience this weekend. Nothing sounded quite right to me, so I took a drive. Ended up at Best Buy and listened to two tracks on their "High End" system back in the Magnolia section... that's all I could stand.Wow, wh...
B&W vs Vandersteen? I came home with the 802d's and have really enjoyed them... you just need good amps (high current) to turn them loose. I have also added the HTM2D center channel when in theater mode. I would buy them again in a heartbeat!
When did you ever hear a system sound so life-like Interesting thread... I think you can make a good case for how good an audio system can reproduce music. I have had 2 channel systems for 40+ years and have enjoyed a lot of good music. I have also attended quite a few concerts and have enjoyed th...
DAC that re-clocks for under $1000? Realremo... thanks for sharing the info on the ND-S1. I had not seen it before, only the two that are available in the US.A quick check on ebay came up with a dealer in Tokyo that has 3 of them at $189.99 each and will ship worldwide.Item number: ...
Music File Storage Preference Thanks for the comments. I'm going to create a folder for each artist and then a sub-folder for each album with the tracks inside. Seems to be the easiest to deal with. I also took Larryski2's advice and called Sonos support... nice people. They f...
DAC that re-clocks for under $1000? The Onkyo UP-A1 does digital output, but the connector is unique to certain models of Onkyo receivers only. They have a second unit but I think it's RCA's only.
any good mat for a rega p9? I'm also using a Herbie's Mat with my Rega P9. The thickness does not have to be an issue since they are available in different thicknesses. You can call and talk with Steve and he'll send you the correct mat. It did not affect my VTA on the P9. U...
processor that could serve as a good preamp You probably won't like the answer, but I haven't found a processor that really sounds good in 2 channel audio and I have tried several of those listed above. My thoughts are to purchase a processor that you like for its features, codecs and abili...
Anyone have a victrola Hey Dwr... I also have two of them and a bunch of the old thick 78's. My prize record is a copy of "Yes, We Have No Bananas", from around 1923. That one will put a smile on your face.
Temporary Proceed replacement Yes the word "Onkyo" initially didn't inspire me either. I was looking at used Anthem, Arcam and Krell, names I was very familiar with. However, I was looking to spend about $1K, and that get a 5 year old unit. The way that HT technology has moved...
Temporary Proceed replacement Just went down the same road as my good old Aragon took a dive. After looking at several older used pieces I found that I could get the Integra DHC 9.9 for a tad over the magic $1K price. It has every new feature you can think of and I couldn't fi...
Turntable recommendations under $1500 There are a couple nice Rega P5's currently listed in the classified, all under your price point. I've been down the road with the Pro-Ject tables and really like the Rega. No messing around... just good sound!
Dual Turntables I had a 1019 for a few years and it did it's thing. It was OK for a post-college turntable, but I wouldn't sell my Rega to get it back. |
