Rega P3-24 Vs VPI Scout. The Rega has been the most plug and play table that I have owned. I have a P9 and it just sounds great and no messing around. Make sure you save about $100 for a Mint tractor to align your cartridge properly.
verdict on class D amps? I'll also give a thumbs up on the Class D amp. I'm using the Cullens Circuits (Wyred4sound) and find it very neutral sounding. So much so that it really picks up the personality of the ARC LS26 preamp, and has the power and head room to make B&...
REGA VTA Question Hi Rick,I recently installed a Lyra Argo i on my Rega table. The best VTA for me was with the arm slightly lower than level at the rear. Like anything, approach it slowly and listen for yourself. In my case, Rega was wrong and also the dealer was ...
Tube Phono-Stage question. Take a look at the Jolida, it's a lot of phono stage for the money. Some used units on Agon for $350, spend $40-$50 for a good pair of 12AX7's and you're in business.Paul
Phono stage for newbie... I'm currently using a Rega P9 and Lyra cartridge with the Jolida JD-9a tube phono stage. I've had it 1-2 years and it's a real keeper. There's a recent review of it at sixmoons.com as well. They sell new for about $450, well within your budget.
Album Storage I've been using Movie Collector and Music Collector for at least 5 years and they are very solid. DVD's and CD's are a breeze, LP's are a bit more difficult but not bad. I don't use a scanner, just enter the title and let the program search the in...
Amp Config for B&W 802D's I've had some time to get the Wyred4sound amps installed, new interconnects and speaker cable and everything settled in. Also, I would recommend carefully cleaning all contacts with Deoxit. That stuff cleaned contact crud that I never knew I had.....
Weakest Link + hardwired = ?? You can also just try just cleaning the existing connectors on the TT as well as the interconnects. Deoxit does wonders and is available on-line or at a RadioShack store. Use the cleaner first, then the Deoxit Gold.Good Luck!Paul
Suggestions for "balanced" interconnects? I had been using Signal Cable Silver Resolution with RCA's and really liked the quality. I just got in some custom bi-amped Silver Resolution Balanced with the Neutrik connectors. They are just breaking in but still sound great. Frank builds a rea...
Help me fix my cartridge The automotive store might not have anything that small, but I would think a good hobby shop that sells RC cars and planes would have everything. They are also used to working on small parts and might be a great help.Paul
Interconnect/Speaker cables Give Frank a call or email at Signal Cable.http://www.signalcable.com/He really helped me on the best combo for my system. I'm using silver interconnects and copper speaker wire and it's a great combo and won't break the bank.
Which Record Cleaning Machine? Hannl also makes some very good machines and are based in Germany. They clean very well and are much quieter than the VPI. The styling and build quality is excellent and they would look great in any shop.Paul
Amp Config for B&W 802D's I greatly appreciate everyones comments on the amp configuration. I really don't change setups very often so I would rather put in a little extra time up front.I am going with a bi-amp setup for the 802D's and giving the nod to the ICE amps. The C...
Amp Config for B&W 802D's I was trying to stay away from the typical one brand vs another, because you can get that info elsewhere on the forum. However, I am looking at several different possibilities.- McIntosh MC402(400w/ch) or a pair of MC501's (500w/ch)- Classe CA400/...
Interconnect for Project table.... I just installed Signal Cable Silver Resolution cables on my Pro-ject Xperience table. They are in the $100 range new and they also have the Analog Two at about $50. They are still breaking-in but really sound good. Frank will help you pick what i... |
