Crystal Clear Cables Received my Magnum Opus speakers cables. In a word excellent. Sweet sounding, the bottom end is deep and tight and the midrange is clear, open with great body, the most important area the mid bass is there in great detail and definition. About the...
Crystal Clear Cables I've just order the Magnum Opus Speaker cable. They look so well made and the feedback was very good by owners. Mel said 2 weeks to make them, so the wait begins. Will use between my McIntosh MC402 and my new built Quads ESL 63's. Electrostatic So...
Cables more hype than value? Talk to many designers of gear and they all will tell you don't spend a lot on cables. Nuff said. Does that mean you should not if you choose to and you enjoy the sound a certain cable will produce, no, this is a hobby and if you want to hear how ...
Mythologies on MoFi - Something wrong? ? You can EQ any remaster disc, vinyl or CD, or down load and make it sound different, in the end it is what you like. All sound quality gets back to this basic, and no one holds the best all the time. I've been very disappoint in the SACD of Nat Ki...
New preamp experience It is all mix and match, and what your ear likes. If you like you are hearing then keep it, does not make the other preamp lesser, just with these amps you like what your hearing better, switch amps then you might like your current preamp better. ...
Remastered White Album on vinyl Folks there is no right or wrong, each system and certain pressing could sound better. Beatles stuff was bright sounding at times so should the new pressing be more musical? I guess they could with today's advance in production compared to 1962-19...
Compare the new Beatles vinyl to early pressings When you start comparing pressing a lot of factors including personal tastes go into which you may like better. For me the Best of the British Blue box collection of their LP's. MoFi was expensive at not nearly as good and eq differently. The new ...
Muddy Waters Folk Singer Any vinyl recording at 45 RPM will sound much better than the 33-1/3 version. The CD version is out of absolute phase so depending on ones system I would suggest switching the phase and listening for the huge improvement for this recording. Sounds...
New reference Marantz compared to McIntosh I have owned both. The Marantz Reference Gear is world class and as musical as McIntosh. So really you cannot go wrong. I just replaced my McIntosh C2300 tube preamp with the Marantz SC-7S2 preamp and I am very happy, no loss of what the C2300 did...

MARANTZ MA9S2/ SC7S2 VS PARASOUND JC1/JC2 I go with the Marantz hands down, it is just a wonder preamp.
12BZ7/12AX7 vs. 5751 5751 sound thin, if you like a more solid state sound then go 5751's. Joe's Lore is what he heard in his system with his ears and his likes. Nothing wrong with that, but it does not make for in stone what tube is the best for your system and your ...
marantz sa-7s1 vs marantz sa-1 Well about 10 years between the two designs, so the newer one sounds better because digital progressed by leaps and bounds over this decade. I owned the SA7-S1 excellent and I kept it and I've tried many over the years all $$$$.
McIntosh owners - please help me decide ona preamp C2300 replaced my C200.
McIntosh C48 Audio Preamp info Only you can tell if you will like it. Go and listen to one and use your own ears. Really that is the best advise you can give yourself. In your system would be ideal. Mac makes great gear and it always musical. |
