What are you using to rip your cds to a hard drive?
What I have found. No rip sounds as good as the CD. I’ve tried everything including upsampling them to higher bits. I know it the rave now, but I found my CD’s sound just great on my Esoteric K01 as well as my old vinyl that I can enjoy at times. ...
DSD vs. PCM vs. MQA - Group listening experiment
Remastered anything will sound better than a poorly mastered CD or vinyl.
Attn Vinyl lovers - what CD Player do you use?
Your right to have the turntable outside of your playing area. Not many know what of the nice effects of a turntable is it picks up the vibes and room in the reproduction and that gives it a special sound. On a good system just have someone cover ...
Importance of Power cords feeding Conditioners
No matter the cable hour sound will change. Then your room acoustics play a huge role. So it not easy to tell anyone what works because I once changed my drapes behind my speakers and I had to reset my system. My advise is to try before you buy. H...
Power Conditioner deleterious to digital sources?
A well designed amp will never sound right with any conditioner’s. Front end is different. Stick with the professionals like Furman who been in it for years and made it fame in recording studio’s. I use a Reference 20i. Only one I’ve kept. I like ...
Best line conditioner???
They are a crap shoot. How your gear reacts to them is the unknown. Balanced power gives some gear fits. I like Furman reference 20i and I have kept it, while others have come and gone and some quick. I feel for front end gear the Harmonic Technol...
Want to buy for a power conditioner?
Any power conditioner will change the sound, now if you like it and most of all does your equipment like it. They all interact with the power supplies. Some gear hate balanced power, some get slow sounding. I use a Furman Reference 20i. I tried it...

Nkonor,I thought the British Blue Box was the best the Beatles sounded on vinyl. mobile Fidelity EQ them and I was not happy and really don't like a lot of their releases. Stones sounded better than any releases in Vinyl on the German Telefunken's...

Greg, i never enjoyed early Esoteric. The K series though really hit the mark. I will say best buy in a New CD player is Marantz Reference players, the new one is musical as the old one but more purity. I could live with any of them. The K01 is ju...
Quads Unlimited Restored Quad ESLs
I own the 63's with time and care and proper set up and with a good sub you be in haven. If front wall damping is there and corners and you pull the speakers out 3' and play with the toe in, you will be rewarded. If the recording is poor on vinyl ...
Velodyne MiniVee 8 or Sunfire HRS-10
The Mini are great speakers. They go low, are fast and tight. Forget their size they work as advertised. I have used them with Quads and Maggie's.
Sealed subwoofer for ESL-63
Buy a Martin Logan Sub. After all they build Electrostatic speaker. I use one Depthi-i sub with excellent results with Crossover at 35. Seamlessly blends in and makes my 63 sound even better but without hurting the mid range purity.
DSD vs. PCM vs. MQA - Group listening experiment
No matter the format medium is the production is bad the sonics will be bad. The only way to improve is to go back and remix. A great recording sounds good on vinyl and CD if mastering was done with care. MQA will never change that and I take this...

This endless Digital vs. Analog is non stop. Having owned both I can say both can be excellent and bad. Much is in the mastering and recording quality to begin with. early digital was new so like early analog it had issues but those days are many ...
Esoteric K01: What are the best settings for CD?
You have to let each filter burn in. When I would a/b a setting against the FIR and Org. Setting and i did not like it, like you say a film and bloated. I went to SDYL-2 with Org. As my dealer strongly suggested when I purchased it and gave it a f...
