beveridge speakers are coming back The Absolute Sound raved about those speakers for years and I am sure they are worth a listen...
Eva Cassidy newbee Songbird is a compilation and probably the best collection of her songs on one CD. I also like Imagine quite a bit, of course Live at Blues Alley is terrific but usually the first one brought up so I wanted to mention Imagine...
Where do you find new music? DirecTV has pretty good music channels and you can look up the artists name and then go buy it. My college radio station is where I get most my ideas. Also the magazines like TAS and Stereophile or HI FI+ all recommend some terrific music which is...
Any heard of Porcupine Tree? funny, I have 'In Absentia' on my list of stuff to buy after hearing it on my local college radio station.thanks guys I will go ahead with that!
How many "tube" watts do Maggie 3.5's or 6's need? I agree with Jafox, the Maggies are great but you need very good amplification to drive them. I finally gave up on my 1.6s after using Innersound ESL amp, Plinius SA100 MKIII, Plinius 8200 integrated and Rogue 120 monoblocks. The Rogues were the o...
who can align my tuner in midwest? thanks guys I decided to use Stereo Surgeons who are recommended by the tuner info site. They have worked on 24 tuners like mine in the last few years!
I got my Gallo Ref3's today Are they new? If so you should wait at least a month (for any new component) to break in and report back on your findings.
Pink Floyd reunion It was in Monday's USA Today. I forget where they are playing and I think it is for one show only, a good cause that was enough for them to put aside their differences. That is my take from a brief reading before work this morning...
Will Maggie 3.6 or 20.1's work in a 121/2 X 21 Rm I had Maggie 1.6s in my 13 x 22 room and always felt they had too much output from the QR midrange driver. I used ficus trees to help dampen the reflections and it was pretty good but I think 15 feet wide would have been better.
The most placement forgiving planar speaker? Innersound ESLs are noted for taking a different route because they have a flat panel and beam the music straight ahead which helps eliminate the room effects. This is just a heads up as I have not even heard them, just read good things about them...
A good CD player for about $ 1,500 used? I bought a Muse model 9 sig gen 3 DVD/CD player and it sounds very close in performance to an Electrocompaniet ECM1UP, (whatever the exact name of their newest is). The Electro was more open and smooth but the Muse had a fuller range of midtones w...
Just got home from a Dylan concert I saw Dylan in Lansing Michigan in the early nineties and his vocals were illegible but his guitar playing surprised me, it was a terrific performance. I am glad I got invited, at the last minute, to this show and it was front row center to boot!
How many audiophiles to screw in a light bulb? the light bulb will never challenge the superiour light of the sun though... TAS The Absolute Sunlight
Sonics of Soundlabs To get low end extension and dynamic range Maggies need tons of power (current) and preferrably solid state. You can get beautiful midrange tone and open sound with tubes but you would need more than 200 watts to have it all I would go for the Sou...
Zero 7 fans? they have a strong driving bass quality that is fun and very good music though a little 'over processed' sometimes for my taste. Overall a 'thumbs up' and just another reason to listen to college radio stations... |
