Is a 12' X 16' room big enough for stereo? It's definiely large enough. I'm not familiar with your particular speakers, but there are certainly many models that would work fine in that size room. I have Merlin VSM-SEs and they would be fine in such a setting.
help jitter, toslink, and DVD question Hi Felthove,I know a lot of people are using DVD players as transports. I used my Pioneer DV-05 for awhile (unmodified) and I thought it sounded pretty great. It did actually, but when I compared it to my old Denon DCD2560 there was no contest. Wh...
Which DAC? Levinson, Theta, Sonic Frontiers I agree with the above regarding the Millenium DAC 2 trial. For $1050, what have you got to lose?? It is a great DAC, and mine keeps getting better and better as I improve my transport. That's a good sign. You may end up preferring one of your thr...
Seek Integrated for 1000 dollars, new / used, suggestions? Rich Brkich from Signature Sound has a few integrated demo units for sale. I'm not sure which have remotes. You can check them out at www.sigsound.comPhil
What does "jitter" sound like???? Thanks for the info. I was just curious, because I recently hooked up my old Studer A727 CDP (their pro model from the 80s...it's very similar to the Revox B226, but beefier everything) and began using it as a transport for my EVS Millenium 2 DAC ...
CD storage binders redux I've heard that the best carrying cases have CD holders in them that function like the tray in a jewel box. They protect the CD, but they're not too compact and I doubt they come in large sizes.
Help Revox or Studer CDPs as transports???? Anyone?? Thanks for all the info! Much appreciated!
Please help me choose CD isolation I have #3 & #4 Black Diamond Racing cones and I don't prefer them on their own. They do some amazing things to the sound as far as soundstage and details go, but I've found that they also have some disadvantages that come with the benefits. Ev...
Best places to find records on Chicago I don't remember what that place is called either, but it's Des Plaines (the edge...very near Mt Prospect), not Arlington Heights.
Duke Ellington CD Recommendations I love the soundtrack for Anatomy of a Murder, and his album with Coltrane is one of my faves too.
Best speaker in nearfield listening I'll second the Merlin's. I sit six or seven feet away, and I love them. As long as they're far enough from the side and rear walls, they'll be fine (but that's probably the case with most speakers)
Best places to find records on Chicago I thought of two more...Raffe's Record Riot on Cicero (just south of Montrose).Broadway Records on Briar (just west of Broadway)
Best places to find records on Chicago There's a Reckless in Evanston, one at Broadway and Belmont, and one on Milwaukee Ave in Bucktown.Record Emporium on Paulina (near Lincoln).Hi-Fi Records,Second Hand Tunes, and Audio Video Beat are all on Clark between Fullerton and Diversey.Lauri...
Paul McArtney on Larry King Hardly any rock/pop musicians "read" music. They may know as much or more than anyone that does, but they never bother to learn the actual language. Unlike jazz musicians, they can afford to pay someone to transcribe the score for them. :-)
Remastered cd vs MFSL People have asked a similar question in the past, and I believe the consensus was "it depends". Sometimes the remasters are done on excellent equipment by very competent people who really care about the music. Sometimes it's marketing. The new digi... |
