Fantasy or reality? Inexpensive solid state preamps that get you 80% there? Just a different recommendation, Lavardin C-42. Close to 4keuros. I guess it will get more than 80% there. Really like their integrated ones.
What causes Pops? @erik_squires Nice one.
Do You Play Or Save Your Best Cartridges I rather go with the best cartridge i can have, i have only one and keep it till i listen to something better or till it goes to cartridge heaven. Then a new one. In the past i had about five at a time but still i was listening to the one i thoug...

So Weird- No Stylus Contact Woofer Pumping with Hana ML and Elac PPA-2 Do you have another cartridge to try? That would eliminate some guessing.
So Weird- No Stylus Contact Woofer Pumping with Hana ML and Elac PPA-2 PVC cannot hold a magnetic charge, though compounds used may be magnetized so to the question is whether this happens with all lps or just one.

"Tuning" CD's @armandoday, that is exactly what @edcyn wrote. Some of my cd’s still have the Audioprism’s Stop Light green paint, gave up, never tried it again (funny but it seems that i did only REM at the time). Yes it was mate finish. Sony in 2009 in...
XLR & Spades: Which is best? Pure copper, plated gold, plated rhodium or ? For me base material matters the most, then coating mix. I always find that pure copper as base material and silver/rhodium plating as coating works great. What is best, depends on your system, whether you want to push things, mellow or refine.
If Nikola Tesla Were Alive Today, What Would His Stereo Look (and, Sound) Like? I bet he would not use any wire for power. And everything would work with resonance control.
Anyone else think that Kid A sounds alot like Mingus? Radiohead and Mingus are unique, Kid A is A all the way and inspired by many styles as kroutrock, jazz, and leftfield electro. It took 15 months to record, pretty long time for a pop/rock band.
Phono Cable, is it necessary? If you connect directly to tonearm, light for not transmitting any feedback and flexible and light if your turntable has a suspension. If connecting to rca on your turntable’s plinth most good interconnects would do. Keep distances reasonably shor...
Is R.E.M. underrated by new music nerds? Not my favourites of that period, but they were an alternative. I have the feeling though that most stopped after Murmur, especially Stipe’s passion and Buck’s ideas and exquisite guitar playing. Still, Lifes Rich Pageant (the beginning of an end...
How to interpret Japanese cartridge compliance measurements. If not otherwise stated, Japanese measurements are a bit different, they give dynamic compliance at 100hz, to convert this to 10hz which is the European and USA standard multiply with 1,5-2, a bit complicated as this would be a rough estimate. Eur...
Do I need 10 gauge power cord if I have 10 gauge from panel? @jumia 10-12awg depending on length should be more than appropriate for the job. |
