I've been selling heavier gear for lighter gear
Oh nice were those days, when i first got my N1 power amp i could lift alone even though it weighs more than 154lb, today at age of 62 it is nearly impossible. I am afraid that i belong to the camp of weight matters, but if unable to move anythin...
Advice on Repairs for Audio Research VT100 Mk II
First get more information directly from ARC to make certain that this is not a hard amp to maintain, and that it would not demand more than it could offer in the long run. You bought it, you cannot change that, but you can negotiate with your tec...
Types of Audiophiles
This is a ladder.
Why are there so many used B&W speakers for sale.
You have answered it yourself.
Do Costly XLR Cables Make A Difference?
I do not know what you are currently using but here are some points of consideration. At your price range you can check some cables from Acoustic Revive (triple c reference or absolute) Furutech (nano flux pcocc), Acrolinc (mexcel ducc), even thou...
Too Much Gain the Issue ? (preamp and amp)
Best is to consult your Carry dealer if the gain can be lowered to 12-18db (se-balanced), or lower hitting a total of early 40db max. I expect that would be sufficiently enough with speaker sensitivity between 88-91db.

A double bass is the best instrument to pair with vocals
piano and clas. guitar
Do speaker cables really make a difference ?
Everything makes a difference +1 If though priority list was in order then interconnects and power cables have more influence than speaker cables.
Rhodium...hmmm
For me rhodium does not push things like pure copper or does not mellow things like gold and has speed like silver. It is more durable but takes long time to break in. +1 The base material is very important.
A New MC to Catch One's Attention
You've got to be nuts or have money to burn to spend $9K on a cartridge. They all wear out and need replacement! So do we.
So, I listened to a $1Million Dollar System
Without having heard the system i can speculate, Not so good dealer, rather things were assembled in a hurry, not a good match somewhere, i am not fond if Wilson speakers but i know Transparent cabling to be musical, probably too much of a good t...
Tonearm Parallel?
You start with arm tube parallel to the record surface (cartridge tracking weight within limits) and then go up or down. Your cartridge manufacturer can give you the best guidance, since some cartridges require their top or bottom side to be para...
KEF 104/2 vs B&W CDM 7 SE
@soundseeker810, 104/2 and Q950 are not made by same cloth. Ther former was in their reference line while the later is a good looking and more economic speaker with an easy going sound (if you want that). But as you discovered work has to be don...
