How long does it take a decent quality speaker to "wear out"?
Still my Dunlavy’s (bought new) show no signs of age but they are well looked after. Crossovers are still like new, no electrolytics to worry about, no corrosion or bad joints, internal cabling perfect. Never pushed really hard, but always connec...
Cable advice
Start with the fact that good cabling is rather expensive. Going one brand is easier and you get a house sound if you want that. Going mixed will get you there but that will happen with more effort and probably more money. Whatever you do (copp...
Happy New Year Everyone
Happy New Year, to all @jond you missed NYE, i missed Xmas for same reason, one out of two is not perfect but still. Next year lets hope its 100% hit.
Favourite Guitarists
Too many great and loved ones, just to add, Buck Dharma, Randy Rhoads, Paco de Lucia, and good that Gabor Szabo was mentioned.
To all forum friends ,,,, Happy New Year as we usher out 2022 & welcome in a brighter 2023
Happy New Year, we always hope for a better one. Cheers everybody.
Please tell me the wait will be work it......my rack
Whatever pleases everyone, but I tend to agree that a well made rack should minimize tweaking as the improvement they bring is more uniform. Some of them look nice too.
When CDs first came onto the market in 1982 .......
Everyone here makes some valid points, in favour or not, the truth is it was cool back then getting people to a new era. The other truth is that some of the best ones were made between very late 80's to late 90's, many lasting till today, with a v...
Speeding sound track
Deep Purple - Highway Star or Fireball or Speed King
I feel bad for GenX'ers that missed out on the 60s and 70s.
60's-70's-80's-90's-00's...all are perfect, if you search deeper a lot can be found, the point is how young you feel to follow and how opened minded to accept.
What Could Cause Center Image To Present Lower than Expected
Room tuning or speaker repositioning would help but I would suggest a different approach to try first. Swap cabling, both interconnects and power cables (if not the same). Most likely is the TV screen behind the speakers and any other big reflecti...
What Does It Take To Surpass A SME V?
Dear @rauliruegas , I have the impression that the internal wiring is Kondo and not Audio note UK. In any case this wiring is very sensitive (though matches arm perfectly) and requires extreme care when installing. This is one of the reasons I...
What Does It Take To Surpass A SME V?
an sme is easy to beat why no azimuth I am afraid that this is not entirely true, you can always make slight azimuth adjustments on SME V. If not then throw away the cartridge. Now, yes it is a hard to beat arm, not perfect but close.
After fifty years… amazing. What high end audio can be.
I bet what counts equally is the route to get here, and the real value is pride. Marry Xmas and enjoy every drop of it..
Who says studio monitors are "cold and analytical"?
Do not care if they have a studio sound but i would like my next speakers to be PMC' s either Fenestria or IB2 se (trying to understand where the cold comes in).
Cartridge Recommendations for SME V Arm
You may consider something in your budget from VDH, Lyra, Zyx. All have healthy outputs to drive your PH3. Experimenting with V's damping trough would be worthwhile also.
