PASS and ZYX The Pass Xono is extremely flexible and a great value used for about $2K. The XP-15 is supposedly better, though I have not heard one yet.
Record Cleaning Machine - Loricraft PRC-3 vs. 4? Tough question. I wrestled with the same until I found a used PRC-4 Delux and bought it. They are great machines and with the right fluids, extremely effective.
PASS and ZYX I would also consider the arm/cartridge pairing as you go down this path. Ask someone like DougDeacon about ZYX cartridges. He seems to have a lot of experience.
Magico Q1 versus ... I own a pair of Magico Mini II's but have not yet heard the Q1. Reports are that it is better than the Mini. However, if you really liked the Q1, I would at least consider a used pair of Mini II's for about 60% of the cost. They also have a comple...
Anyone HEARD the qol 'signal completion' device? Ozzy, The device is in the signal path and adds gain. How is that not active? Room treatments, speaker and listener locations are certainly passive. Adding isolation, racks, cones, feet etc is also passive, IMO.
What happened? I would not mess with it. What happens when you want to sell it in the future? Send it back for an original factory replacement. That's the only think I would consider.
mbl - is there a problem? I heard the smaller floor standing models (don't remember the model #) in Steve Dobbins room with his "Beat" turntable at RMAF 2010. It was an outstanding sounding room. I think he had Allnic electronics. I kept going back to that room because the...
Anyone HEARD the qol 'signal completion' device? Seton, that's a great endorsement. I agree the only way to know is to order one and hear for oneself in a known system. What you describe is pretty much the improvement I experienced when Jim Smith came to voice my system. He added nothing, but th...
Anyone HEARD the qol 'signal completion' device? Thanks Ozzy. I had a similar response when I added isolation (Vibraplane under TT and Townshend Sinks under rack components). Everything improved and sounded more real.
SME 20/2 Finger Lift Hum I have an SME V arm and have never installed the finger lift. I don't want another piece of metal that could vibrate a tiny amount between the headshell and bolts near this sensitive part of the arm and cartridge. I don't know if this sounds bette...
Anyone HEARD the qol 'signal completion' device? Ozzy, It had nothing to do with price. When you toggle the unit in and out of the signal path, what do you hear other than a change in volume? Does the soundstage collapse? Is part of the signal missing?
Anyone HEARD the qol 'signal completion' device? Ozzy, At least one user did not like it enough to keep it. Read Madfloyd's comments above. He writes "Ultimately I found....the effect too distracting for me." I spoke to him at length about it. He returned it after the trial period and I had the ...
Review: Pass Labs XA100.5 Amplifier John, the XA100.5 should be fine with those speakers as long as the room is not huge and volumes really high. Enjoy.
Anyone HEARD the qol 'signal completion' device? Lrsky, you may be right in the sense that it will find its way into MP3 players, car radios, TVs etc., and could be described as "the next phase of audio as we've known it." But how do you explain the decidedly mixed reports from users in these fo...
Review: Pass Labs XA100.5 Amplifier You are most welcome John. These Pass XA.5 amps are really great. I have since switched to the XA160.5 as my new speakers needed the extra power. Like Stephen said in his review thread, you are welcome to call me up anytime also. I've been in touc... |
