Turntable speed accuracy
Grr6001, Someone did indeed imply that the NVS is the best and he compared it to Rockport, Walker, SME 30 and many others. It was JTinn on his website. I also read that MLavigne thinks his NVS, Telos and Anna cartridge are the best he's ever heard...
Changing from Vinyl to Digital in Brave New World
Whart, Another turntable to consider, though adding active air isolation is a essential is the Brinkman Bardo. Direct Drive and no bigger than an LP. Or the Grand Prix Monoco, though I have never heard it. I prefer the SME tables to the Bardo. For ...
Changing from Vinyl to Digital in Brave New World
Boy, that is a tough problem for someone so into vinyl. If it were me, and it surely isn't, I would cull my collection to 2000. Store the rest or slowly sell off. Keep the 2000 LPs in a closet on shelves and buy a great, compact, set and forget ta...
Ortofon tonearms ,Static and Dynamic - Difference?
I read that another thing to consider is how to get the counter weight as close to the arm pivot point as possible. I don't know the technical reason for this, but if all else is equal, the closer the weight to the pivot, the better the arm will s...
Anyone HEARD the qol 'signal completion' device?
Setonaudio, What is in your personal system besides the QOL?
Record Cleaning Machine- Keith Monks or Loricraft?
Buconero, I have the Loricraft PRC-4 and I like it very much, though I have never used the Monks. I use four fluids in five steps and I don't think the Monks has enough bottles to hold that many different fluids. Nor do I like the idea of the auto...
Record Cleaning Machine - Loricraft PRC-3 vs. 4?
Well stated Syntax. Could you comment on whether or not the Monks gets the records any cleaner than the Loricraft? I've never read a direct comparison. One issue for me is that I use four fluids in five steps and the Monks automatic tanks can't ac...
Anyone HEARD the qol 'signal completion' device?
My guess is that over time, this device will fade in the high end specialty arena but may become ubiquitous in mobile MP3 devices, HT processors and even TV's, phones and car radios. It might appeal more to the masses than to the high end purists....
Magico V3
Congratulations Teeshot. Sometimes things are just worth the wait. Welcome to the Magico group.
Record Cleaning Machine - Loricraft PRC-3 vs. 4?
Thanks Hiendmuse. I'll give it a try. As I recall, I was at 2.5 grams and the skipping happened more often and more near the label. Performance is now more consistent, but it's time to experiment again. I appreciate the suggestion.
Anyone HEARD the qol 'signal completion' device?
Boy, after reading this entire thread, I sure wish I had made the effort to listen to my friend's Qol during his "in-home trial period". Unfortunately, I couldn't make it in time and he returned the unit before I could hear it or borrow it for my ...
What makes a tuntable sounds warmer?
I would not describe VTA and cartridge loading as making a turntable sound warm, but others might. These adjustments will certainly effect the way your analog front end sounds. What exactly do you mean? Tonal balance, transients, sluggish bass?
Mint Best Tractor still in business?
I just corresponded with Yip two days ago and he is planning to make me a second protractor. So, I would say Yes, he is still in business. It did take about three days for him to return my email, but he apologized saying he is particularly busy. I...
Record Cleaning Machine - Loricraft PRC-3 vs. 4?
You are welcome, Mike. I have since added the AIVS No. 15 as a first step. It is another enzyme step and is well worth the time/effort. I also use two rinses, so the AIVS 3-step for me is actually 5-steps. Crazy, I know.Dev, on very few occasions,...
Record Cleaning Machine - Loricraft PRC-3 vs. 4?
Mike, I also have a PRC-4 Deluxe. I like it for all the reasons you mention, though I never use the reverse switch as I find putting the wand on the other side of the label accomplishes the same thing. My final pure water rinse for example is done...
