Anyone HEARD the qol 'signal completion' device? If the qol solves these inherent problems with the signal, revealed what has been forever omitted, why then have some people bought the device, inserted it in their systems and listened and then decided to return it?
Getting granite tomorrow. Agree with Doug about speakers. I put one expandable column directly under each speaker in the basement below my listening room. I bought these at Home Depot for about $30 each. My speakers aren't spiked because I have very soft, very old wide pin...
Getting granite tomorrow. Doug, that is a very nice explanation of the various steps and results. I had a different experience with my unsuspended turntable. I did put a Vibraplane pre-loaded with 136 lbs of steel plate ballast under my unsuspended turntable. Interestingly...
SME 312 or SME 312S for a Technics SP10 mkII I suggest you read Albert Porter's system page. He has the SME 312S with an SP10 MK3 in a panzerholz plinth. I'm sorry I have no experience with the 312, but it sounds like you have a nice analog setup going. Albert should have some good advice.
Pass Labs XA200.5 I agree with Rtn1. I have not experienced any sonic penalty when switching to the bigger Class A Pass amps. Now that may be because the speakers needed the extra power, so overall the sound is better on balance and this may be overshadowing any sm...
Multiple arms, multiple cartridges and geometry? Great efforts Halcro and I appreciate your sharing the experience with us. But I can't fathom the sheer number of choices you have each time you sit down to relax and listen to music. I sometimes have trouble just deciding which LP to pull out. Ho...
Which LPs are on your permanent rotation? I'm with Ebm. On our speakers, Muddy's "Folk Singer" on 45 RPM sounds stunningly good. I also have Starker playing Bach's 6 Cello Suites on Mercury next to my turntable for frequent late night sessions.
I will downsize my audio room.It will be 10'n ing The Magico V2 or Mini II would be more appropriate for that room than the V3, IMO. The V3 woofers are too far below the mid driver to integrate in such a small room.
Raidho C1.1 I would certainly try to compare them directly to the Q1. The are less expensive, may have different power requirements and they have a different aesthetic. I'm sure they sound quite different. If I were in the market, I would also compare them to...
Talea Arm: What cartridges are best? You don't mention a budget. The cartridges so far mentioned are all fairly expensive, especially the Anna and Atlas. Would you consider buying used or do you require a new cartridge? I have heard it sound good with both the A90 and the XV-1s, thou...
Magico Q5 vs Nola Babygrand ref. vs Egg. Savoy sig Those are all big speakers for big budgets and rooms. I've heard the Q5 and the Nola in dealer demos. I owned the Eggleston Rosa, and now have the Magico Mini 2. They are three very different approaches to sound reproduction. At this level, you ne...
Mint Best Tractor still in business? I had four email exchanges with Yip over a two day period about two weeks ago. Nothing has changed from three years ago when I ordered my first MINT. At least as far as I can tell.
SS preamp with Pass XA 60.5 amps I see no reason to not audition the XP-10 or 20 in your system with RENO HiFi's in-home trail period. I have the XP-20 and XA.5 amps and the combination is fantastic. If you don't like it, pay for the return shipping and try something else. IMO, e...
To SME or not to SME? Mikesmith,Has your SME 20/3 arrived? I'd love to read about your impressions.
Turntable speed accuracy Albert, Thanks for the specifics on the TimeLine tests. That Mk 3 must be something and perhaps "best of DD breed". I'd love to hear it someday. Pity it's no longer made.I witnessed a TimeLine demo on a DD table last weekend. The owner held an env... |
