Seeking Great Cool Runnin' SS Amp...
Speaking of cool running amps, I haven't seen anyone mention the PS Audio HCA-2. Like the Evo 2 this is a digital amp (Class D) that runs very cool. I noticed a previous thread where some comparisons were made between these two amps, and the few w...
Seeking Great Cool Runnin' SS Amp...
I should mention that my budget is around $1500 to $2500, with the lower end preferred but justified departures accepted! Anyone who knows the amps listed here and can provide some comparitive feedback... it would be much appreciated.
Sony DVP-S9000ES or Meridian 586 DVD/CD
One thing to consider, if I'm not mistaken, is that the DVP-S900ES will not play back CDR's. This is from indirect information, but I believe it is correct. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
Are CD clubs a good deal?
Has anyone had experience with the Musical Heritage Society? I just got an offer for all Beethoven's 9 symphonies, Berlin Philharmonic/von Karajan, for 99 cents each, no further buying requirements.
Are CD clubs a good deal?
I plan on enrolling in BMG, but the last time I went online to make my selections I was really dissapointed with the interface. It was very poorly organized for exploring. I'll have to check to see if it's improved at all.
Best mid-size speaker, cost no object
Fmpnd - I agree with you that sonic impressions are generally subjective and often relative to budgetary and other constraints. I hope I didn't come across too absolutest - these were simply my impressions. My impressions were also not consistent ...
Best mid-size speaker, cost no object
I have to say that from what I heard at CES, the Avalon Diamond beat out the Kharma Midi-Grand Ceramique and the Vandersteen 5 hands down. I say this without referring to the electronics driving them or those that you have. I found the Kharma to h...
Best sounding room at CES 2003
I loved the Lamm SET amplifier => Wilson Watt Puppy System 7 speakers. The Watt Puppies didn't sound nearly as good on any other amp: VTL, Lamm A/B - but they sure sounded sweet, refined, and kept total composure throughout the dynamic spectrum...
Where are you? Do you know what your FM is doing?
Sdcampbell - are you on a hill or in a valley? I used to live in Port Townsend, and there was quite a good array of radio stations available there by the water, including CBC (Canadian) and Bellingham. Any chance of receiving these in Seattle?
VPI 16.5 v 17.0
I just ordered a 16.5. Sorry to tweak this thread with a related question, but: regarding cleaning fluids for either the 16.5 or the 17, I've heard some say that they use the Disc Doctor cleaning fluids and brushes, and then remove fluids with the...
Nakamichi deck service
I reiterrate Johnny's experience. Steven is a good guy who knows Naks well and does good work. I'm very satisfied with what he did for me.
Well, What's the Verdict on the Cary 308T
I just wanted to clear up the problem I was having with the tray. This isn't a problem common to all CD-308's. On mine, the front plate on the tray (semi-transparent blue plate to match the LED display) was mis-aligned by about a millimeter. The p...
how old is too old when buying speakers?
I just recently bought some Tukans used. Great speakers for the cost! Could use a sub though. Anyhow, in terms of upgrades, I spoke with Linn and the only upgrade has been the protective cover on the tweeter. They told me that this was purely aest...
CES - Which Days?
I'll email the cell phone list out to all who add to it. Albert, where are you???
CES - Which Days?
Ed - could explain a little more about the T.H.E. show - what it's focus is, etc.?Also, as a means of hooking up, I'd be happy to compile a list of names and cell phone numbers of those attending, so we can make arrangements on the fly as needed. ...
