Looking for vintage Quad ESL's - or my wife thinks a "shrink" becase she says I'm crazy!
@ct0517  I am working with a pair of stacked 57's right now, rebuilt in 2016 by Kent at Electrostatic Solutions.  Listened with a real time analyzer last night and found that only the bottom 1/3 octave (centered at 39 hz) was down, everything else...
exceptional voices of female singers (non-classical)
@russmaleartist  Good words.  I agree with you.  I don't think this thread addresses absolute vocal talent, because it is very hard for any of us (myself included) to see beyond our own taste in music.  A singer with a great voice, but who in my p...

Nobody a fan of Nina Simone? Unique and as genuine as it gets.
Firewire immune to jitter?
Regarding Steve’s argument about ethernet being the best connection… I have a PS audio direct stream dac, and I wonder if getting an ethernet bridge would bring it to that optimal performance?

Jeff Rowlands Amp and Dac vs. VAC amp and DAC
I have VAC Phi 200s and it literally takes me five minutes and no techie equipment to bias them. Just adjisting an easily accessible screw for each tube and watching for an led to light up. Really simple.  Output tubes cost about $40 each and shou...

Stacked Quad Questions
@whart It's great that the ESLs run so well with relatively lowpriced Quad amps. Makes it easy to experiment. @atmasphere (Ralph) - thanks for your input.  I am excited to try the stacked quads with an OTL amp. Which of your amps would you recommend?
Stacked Quad Questions
@roberjerman. The Electrostatic Solutions rebuilds have protection circuits and I believe are safe for all input levels.  From their website:Both the ESL63 and the ESL57 require an amplifier that is highly stable into reactive loads and has a larg...
Stacked Quad Questions
Thank you all for your suggestions and information thus far. @georgehifi How did you wire in the decca tweeters? Were they on the same amplifier also in parallel but with a small crossover circuit in front of them?
Stacked Quad Questions
Thanks Whart!  Regarding bass - I will say that my single ESL57’s restored by Wayne Piquet have plenty of bass, just not super deep bass. I do have a pair of JL Audio F113 subwoofers that I can throw into the mix if desired. I’ll see how the Elect...
Stacked Quad Questions
Oh, I also have a pair of VAC Phi 200 amplifiers, currently used as monoblocks, but could each be used in stereo mode, one channel supplying each quad in the stack.  They are 200 watt KT88 amps, and I believe that the speakers are protected by cla...

Anyone With A Class 'D' Amp Play A 4 or 2 Ohm Speaker?
Anyone have experience running them with Quad electrostatics, which go down to 2 ohms in the high frequencies.  Considering for a pair of stacked quads.
Benchmark AHB2 power amp impressions?
I will eventually be comparing this to an Ayre V5xe with Harbeth P3er speakers. Will follow this thread.
