Question About Capacitor Upgrade in Tube Amp
Paul from PS audio on caps…   He discusses caps/bypass caps.
Question About Capacitor Upgrade in Tube Amp
The small film caps that are put across the electrolytics, are bypass capacitors. A small high quality bypass cap can greatly improve the SQ from the bigger electrolytic. I recently recapped a tube amp and I put Myflex capacitors with great succ...
THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME DOMAIN RESPONSE MUST READ
@erik_squires    Thanks for that! So happy to hear Fritz is a nice as I have imagined from everything I’ve read. I’ve considered reaching out to him, but never been comfortable asking technical advice from a manufacturer/anyone in the industry  ...
THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME DOMAIN RESPONSE MUST READ
@erik_squires    From what I understand, he uses the ARSXO, which he acknowledges (as is required because of the patent held, which was made open provided anyone who used it in a commercial venture credited the circuit/inventor) The classic vers...

THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME DOMAIN RESPONSE MUST READ
Fritz doesn’t use capacitors in his crossovers. Once again kenidjit strikes out. He uses the acoustic reality series crossover. One of the reasons why his speakers measure so well, and how they provide an easy, and consistent  load for the amplif...
Sansui AU-717
The 717 is on my wishlist! I’ve recapped many amps myself. At a minimum, get the power supply caps looked at. Electrolytics have a shelf life of between 30 and 40 years. They dry out. I don’t understand the desire to keep these things “original”...
A Question About Time Alignment
Hahaha. Someone let Kenidjit back on the forum.    Why?
Maybe this is the winter you build something!
Winter will be a busy one. I have 3 Lencos Im going to be building heavy plinths for that involve a rather elaborate damping system an some significant mods to the TT’s. Was just given an Ariston RD11S that I’m going to restore for fun. Have al...
Tuner - FM over the air - suggestions
Magnum Dynalab. Used mine every day for the past 30 years. Very musical component. And get one of their ST-2 antennas, regardless of which tuner you get. Enjoy!
1st full tube amp Oldchen EL34
Good call on the internal mods :) After seeing how the amp survived my friends rather “careless” treatment of the amp, I wouldn’t worry too much :) Oh, and he kept it in a confined space in an entertainment unit. Got really toasty in there! Liv...
SME 3009 S2 Improved Tonearm problem...possibly
Hey   I have an SME Series II Improved with the fixed headshell If set up properly, it is an amazing tonearm! I stripped mine down to the last screw, cleaned, rewired and put it back together. (There are parts in the service manual where they s...

And as others have stated above.   Tube amps are high voltage devices, and can "hurt" (yes, speaking from experience...) Only ever put one hand in the chassis at a time, unless you have discharged the caps and it is unplugged. I got a rather un...
1st full tube amp Oldchen EL34
Hey. First off, ignore @jasonbourne52 I have some first hand experience with the same amp! A friend purchased one a few years back - he wanted an inexpensive tube amp - liked the look of glowing tubes. We did some research and he ended up getti...
Does dose anyone see these speakers in real?
Trying to remember where I saw these? Read an article about them. Someone had “bought” them, but didn’t pay for them. I think they were either in a tower in Manhattan, or at some private club in Florida somewhere. Strange thing is, they were pract...
