@chocaholic    I would honestly go to DIYAudio or Audiokarma and reach out to the folks there for some thoughts on where to send it.   Understand the reluctance to ship, and you may get lucky and find someone near by. But, better to ship to so...
Looking for some listener experience with the Cary SLP-30. Just bought one…
@decooney  Thanks! I realize patience is a virtue, but sadly, it’s one that eludes me :) But to your point, I should live w it for a while. It was, from what I gather, a daily user. So will be safe to plug in. It’s all original (based on photos o...

@atmasphere    Hi Ralph.   I fear you have given me credit/quoted me with something I didn’t say :)   I was arguing for the recap of the unit. Firm believer in the benefits of both replacing old/tired caps with fresh ones, but also taking adv...
Question About Capacitor Upgrade in Tube Amp
Another quick thought, from personal experience.    If you are doing the work yourself, one part out, one part in. Take pictures of every section you are working on before you start and after you finish. Speaking from experience here. Didn’t do t...

@timlub    Im a minimalist for sure :) Building a speaker for a friend, that is specifically intended to go into a shelf in a Ikea kallax shelving unit. 335mm cube. Not fun… So, small sealed full range driver and the rest is for a band pass sub....

@erik_squires    Sorry, should have been more clear :) When using the ARSXO, I am struggling to see what purpose a cap would have on the woofer, and how it would be implemented. In a more traditional Cap/Res/Ind series or parallel crossover, sur...
Question About Capacitor Upgrade in Tube Amp
Paul from PS audio on caps…   He discusses caps/bypass caps.
Question About Capacitor Upgrade in Tube Amp
The small film caps that are put across the electrolytics, are bypass capacitors. A small high quality bypass cap can greatly improve the SQ from the bigger electrolytic. I recently recapped a tube amp and I put Myflex capacitors with great succ...

@erik_squires    Thanks for that! So happy to hear Fritz is a nice as I have imagined from everything I’ve read. I’ve considered reaching out to him, but never been comfortable asking technical advice from a manufacturer/anyone in the industry  ...
THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME DOMAIN RESPONSE MUST READ
@erik_squires    From what I understand, he uses the ARSXO, which he acknowledges (as is required because of the patent held, which was made open provided anyone who used it in a commercial venture credited the circuit/inventor) The classic vers...

THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME DOMAIN RESPONSE MUST READ
Fritz doesn’t use capacitors in his crossovers. Once again kenidjit strikes out. He uses the acoustic reality series crossover. One of the reasons why his speakers measure so well, and how they provide an easy, and consistent  load for the amplif...
Sansui AU-717
The 717 is on my wishlist! I’ve recapped many amps myself. At a minimum, get the power supply caps looked at. Electrolytics have a shelf life of between 30 and 40 years. They dry out. I don’t understand the desire to keep these things “original”...
A Question About Time Alignment
Hahaha. Someone let Kenidjit back on the forum.    Why?
