Replace Dynaudio woofers? Wow it looks like a short occurred on the crossover, is the other one like that as well? Best case scenario would be the crossovers sacrificed themselves and protected the drivers. Definitely get both crossovers out and give them a good inspection...
Replace Dynaudio woofers? That's not true, you can build a really good crossover for less then $100 in parts, the same way you can build quality speaker cables using 12 ga oxygen free copper for well under $100. Dynaudio has upped its game recently when it comes to name br...
Replace Dynaudio woofers? @audioman58 makes a good point, if there isn't any sound coming from the woofers it could be a crossover issue which would be far less expensive to repair then a driver replacement. The OEM drivers are pricey, they are built to last so it wouldnt...
Replace Dynaudio woofers? Btw- if it’s looking like a project there is someone on USAudiomart selling a pair of Special 40’s for $1600. If I didn’t already have 3 pairs of Dynaudios I’d hop on them in a second. That’s a big upgrade from the 1.1’s and an insane value.
Replace Dynaudio woofers? Ok popped off a woofer and it was as easy as the tweeter so at some point they probably glued as well as screwed them in place, but mine were definitely not glued. The model number on the woofer was 84310 or 15W38 not sure which is the model.
Replace Dynaudio woofers? Out of curiosity I tried to pop off the tweeters on my 1.8mk2's and they are stuck on. I'd try to pry at the edges of the metal ring with a thin flat head to create some seperation, and/or apply some pressure to the back of the tweeter through th...
Replace Dynaudio woofers? I just popped mine off and it is indeed a D-260 tweeter and looks exactly like that picture. There was no glue holding it in place so perhaps yours is stuck from age or heat (which may explain why it seems damaged). The wires have a bit of solder ...
Replace Dynaudio woofers? I think the Contour series uses a different tweeter, but it should look similar to this D-260 with two metal tabs to connect the wires and then mounting the tweeter into the enclosure with the existing screws. Pretty much plug and play. Give Dyna...
Replace Dynaudio woofers? I've got the same speakers, and depending upon condition they are probably worth between $500-900 in the used market fully functioning. It's worth calling Dynaudio or looking for aftermarket replacements depending upon cost since its an easy DIY.
What speaker could safely be ordered without hearing it first? @mtbiker29 as a fellow phan, love the whole vibe of the room, and those speakers definitely don't look too big! Congrats In the spirit of your original question, the only speakers I've ever bought unheard were the Dynaudio Heritage Specials (in...
Midrange Increasingly Harsh Yep, I’d do a full re-tube. Your power tubes are definitely shot and the pre-amp tubes are at the end of their life. Try to avoid using it until you get the power tubes replaced at minimum as the distortion from spent tubes can damage the speakers...
Klipsch Heresy IV vs. The World! For 300B you'll need either gigantic speakers to get full range sound or subs. There's no way around the physics of watts / speaker size / bass. You only get to pick 2. If you keep the 300b, and want a fairly small cabinet, you are going to nee...
Midrange Increasingly Harsh As Elliot recommended try an isolate the problem. Most likely its either the speakers or the tubes since you’ve replicated the problem with multiple sources. You’ll need either an alternative amplifier or alternative set of speakers and see if you...
Lush and Romantic Tube Amps What you are looking for doesn’t exist, at least not at 75 watts. When you start pushing tubes beyond 50 Watts or so they get much more solid state sounding (less second order harmonics). You’ll lose that single ended lush sound, especially with a...
Can "Dark"Sounding Speakers Be "Brightened"UP??? What you are describing is the difference between the soft dome in the Concertino and the ring tweeter in the Toy. Cables won’t make any actual differences however like any placebo they can be effective if you believe in the change. Changing amp... |
