dynaudio speakers S 5.4 Conventional wisdom would point you to the Lector amp. I don't think a 24 wpc tube amp would be able to do the woofers on the S5.4's justice. I've always been intrigued to try a tube amp with my Dyn's but am too content with my current solid state...
Dynaudio Confidence C1: looking for speaker cable. Not sure what your budget is, but I can tell you from experience that Dyn's Confidence line does respond favorably to cable upgrades. Currently using Harmonic Tech Pro 9 speaker cables with good results on my C4's and previously with my C2s. Hope ...
Classe CAM-200..need good Pre-Amp Ericjcabrera - While I have not owned Classe, I have been able to audition their amps and preamps on several occasions and found them to be smooth, powerful, non fatiguing and a good overall value. I've owned two entry level pcs from BAT and found...
Classe CAM-200..need good Pre-Amp I'd definitely stick with the Classe amps over the BAT gear you reference. I've owned BAT VK200 amp paired with VK30 preamp & found the two pcs to be over-rated in comparison to other gear in their class. Not sure what your budget is for a pre...
Dyns C4 owners: Question for you ? My room is 21' x 15' with ceiling height varying from 6 to 7 feet. The speakers need to have room to breath and need to be pulled out approx. 4' off the front wall. I use a Plinius SA-102 amp to good effect (125wpc @ 8 ohms in class A). I highly r...
No room for my REL Storm II I've owned the Velodyne SPL-1000 & the REL Storm III... and in my experience, the REL beat out the Velodyne by a wide margin, with physical size being the only exception. Unless you are willing to make a significant sacrifice in sound quality ...
DALI Euphonia MS5 in smaller room I'd heed the recommendations you've rec'd and try something different / more suitable for your room size. I assume you've already tried adding a subwoofer to get more bass(?)... if not, buy a good adjustable sub (REL, Aerial).
Thoughts on Threshold Forte Model 3 Nelson Pass I just bought a used Forte 3A for $450 to have as a backup amp. I was very pleasantly surprised at what a great little amp this is. Great midrange, powerful and non-fatiguing. My previous listening experience with Adcom gear was less favorable... ...

How loud can I 'safely' play my Dynaudio Focus 140 Kind of tough to tell, but as a rule of thumb, as long as your not to the point of hearing any distortion, you should be okay.In regards to an amp, what are you currently using... do you want an integrated to seperates... what is your budget?
Dynaudio Contour S 1.4 vs Special 25? I agree that the C1's are difficult to find on a regular basis. The Special 25's are a safe bet. You can always sell them down the road and upgrade to the C1's when they become more common on the used market.
Classe or Mac ?? Without hesitation, I'd choose the older Classe amp & pre over the pricier Mac integrated. Seven years old for a quality amp is not very old... you should have a decade of life left in that equipment before it may need any repair.
Dynaudio Contour S 1.4 vs Special 25? For a little bit more money than you'd spend on Special 25's, you can hold out for a used pair of Dyn. C1's ($4K). Keep in mind, Dyn's need space to sound their best, so be prepared to place them 36" off the front wall.
What amp to replace BAT VK-250 w/Dali & Aesthetix? A few years ago, I went from a BAT VK200 to a Plinius SA-102 and have been very pleased. My pre is the Aesthetix Calypso with NOS tubes.
Simple System for a Super Senior? I'd get a vintage Marantz or Sansui receiver with approx. 100 WPC ($400 used), an Arcam CD73 ($500 used) & Dynaudio 52SE's ($900). Use the remaining $200 on Kimber 4TC speaker cables and PBJ IC's |
