How to treat room acoustics? Retail sources?
another vote for GIK... give 'em a call. They were very helpful.
Audio Aero Prima - not responding
Jody @ Globe Audio has always been very helpful and responsive for me. I agree with Golden ears that he may be out of the office returning from a show, etcetera....
Help chossing a good speaker. $ 3-5 K
The models listed in your post are all excellent choices. I'm a biased Dynaudio fan, but would be happy with any of the speakers you listed.
House wiring for dedicated power to stereo
Mmadden28... LOL, thanks for the chuckle!
will adding a subwoofer improve overall audio
I loved my REL Storm Mk III when I had it.
Airport Express to DAC - Cable Suggestion
I use Van Den Hul's Opticoupler toslink cable ($120) which can be purchased with a mini-plug which negates the need for a adaptor plug when connecting to the AE. After calling around to several Van Den Hul dealers, I found mine in stock at Eugene ...
Sony XA7ES vrs Cambridge 840C and others...
I've owned both the Sony XA7ES and Jolida. Both are okay, but I think you'd be happier with the Cambridge 840C. Getting replacement parts for the XA7ES could be a show stopper if you ever need to get it repaired... then your left with a $700 boat ...
Dynaudio S3.4 vs S5.4
Given that room treatments are not a possibility, I'd be looking at the S3.4's or C1's with a subwoofer.
Totem Owners....
I agree with Bob Reynolds. Full disclosure from dealers and/or those benefiting is a good thing.
The Next Upgrade is What?
I agree with Jtwrace... sound treatments are a must. You won't know what your system is capable of until you effectively treat your listening room. I used GIK Acoustics and got a lot for my $700.
1k used Integrated amp- Plinius?
I owned the Plinius 8200 mkII and agree with Philjolet's assessment. A good integrated at that price point that would sound decent at low volumes.
Dynaudio C1 vs C2
I agree wtih Xti16. I used a REL Storm III sub when I had my C2's and they sounded good together. When I upgraded to the C4's the sub was no longer necessary and was even detrimental in my moderate size room (15' x 21' x 7'). If I were in your sho...

Very nice... thanks for the tip!

Anyone know anything about the Pathos TT
I owned this amp a few years back. Nice sound and the ability to roll tubes... just need relatively efficient speakers. I never regretted owning it, but had to move on when I changed to less efficient speakers.
