Thermal Distortion your loudspeaker most likely suffers from it. But do you care?
Thermal distortion from my speakers. My ears would blow first! :)
I am so happy.....
I am very happy for you!  Happiness with your system is all that matters! Congrats!
The sound quality from DACs - is it all the same?
I saw advice in this thread and agree with it. Go to a dealer, compare and listen for yourself.
Least Expensive Power Conditioner/Surge Protector That Won't Worsen Sound
I use a Furman power strip RF / voltage limiter with a Tripplight isolation transformer / voltage regulating power filter.  When compensating for low or high voltage gas never affected the sound.
After years of separates, I'm going integrated. Anyone else do the same?
I did the same and went integrated and never looking back. Primaluna EVO
Russian tube supply issues
Scored JJ-KT 77 Tubes. I ordered when Russia invaded Ukraine knowing there would be a supply issue and panic purchases. I am hoping American companies will step up to production and not jack prices.
Power Conditioning on the Cheap
This is what I use. Plugged into the wall. Furman RFI power strip with voltage cut off at 145v. Tripplight 1800W RF, spike voltage regulator isolation transformer plugged into the Furman.  The furman will take the first hit and limit over voltage ...
Let me end the Premp/Amplifier sound debate ...
You do not need to spend alot of money to get well designed and well built gear. Example: Many old recievers from the 70s, still work fine and sound for the age. My experience was with Crown home stereo equipment from about 1980. It lasted and sti...
Suggestions for a streamer only (I have a great DAC)
I bought a Bluesound node 2i and never looked back. The software, flexibility,   steaming options, ease of use cannot be beat. It has been reliable with no problems. I run the digital output to a Shitt Bifrost and it sounds great. I run it to a Pr...
Affordable vs. ultra expensive speakers - what's the difference?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sound is in the ear of the beholder. Cost has nothing to do with good sound and the enjoyment of music. Factors to consider. Room size, Room acoustics, your ears, more money than you know what to do with?
What a pile of Schiit
I think it is one of those little annoyance situations we all run into now and then. It is not going to ruin Shitt as a company.  I have a bifrost connected to a bluesound node2. It is completely silent and more fluid sounding, more natural than t...
Products you added to your system in 2021 that made most impact to your music enjoyment
2021 was good to me. I enjoyed the old Crown SL1 / PL1 Pre amp / power amp separates for over 40 years. A real testament to quality. It was time to retire it as the sound was degrading a bit and  I needed a change.  I looked for quite a while a...
Have you moved away from full range to standmount speakers + subs?
The thing about subs. You can have small speakers which get voices and treble well but matching them with a sub can be tricky. I suggest audtioning with several.  Just throwing in any sub with any smaller speakers might not work well.  With larger...
How long do good speakers last?
I had ac pair of JBL Laners go 20yrs before the woofer foam started to go bad
How long do good speakers last?
As long as the spider and surround is good so are the woofers which take the most beating. I have witnessed all paper cone woofers last 35 years in a Leslie organ speakers. The HF longer. Mid and high frequency depends  on componenent material use...
