Educate me on music streamers, please.
I communicated with the international service supervisor of Innuos and he said they can add Deezer to be available on my device.  I did a demo of a mini mk III and loved it!  Its sound is outstanding . I have Deezer which I want to keep.  If you w...
Innuos and Roon
I am testing an innuous  mini MK III with it setup as a Roon Core. I am inexperienced with this technology.  This is a demo Unit and my first experience with Roon. I have to say the innuos sound is amazing with Roon. The key is the DSP.   All room...
Should people who can't solder, build or test their speakers be considered audiophiles?
What along opinion.  My response, Really?  Well I guess everyone has a right to tell it like they see it.  That being said, being technical about the innards of electronics in audio has absolutely nothing to do with enjoying the music.  I have an ...
Should people with no turntable or reel to reel be considered audiophiles?
YES!
In the middle of a pandemic, Stereophile reviews ~ $30K equipment
Well, only the people who are very well off will have a 30k integrated unless a second mortgage is taken out. High end audio has always since my teen years been a hobby learning, observing and seeing where financially I fit in.  Since I fall middl...
Why do you guys pursue a flat frequency response when you buy a subwoofer?
A subwoofer?   I am not on the subwoofer bandwagon yet.  I built my own speakers and I am not an audio engineer by any stretch of the imagination.  I am very picky about my sound but never had the money to buy the speaker sound I like.  My 8" towe...
Power Conditioners
To be more specific, get both the Furman for plugging in the power conditioner.
Power Conditioners
Being an electronics technician,  my recommendation would be the Furman,  will get the RF. but will quit if hit hard by a large spike. and an isolation transformer with voltage hold circuits to keep voltage steady, filter spikes, low voltage, RF, ...
JBL L300 - true myth?
The JBL L-300s were the best sounding JBL Speaker I ever heard.  I built some JBL Lancers with the 14" Aquadag coating LE 14A  JBL 5" Mid and 1" Pro Titanium tweeter.   I thought the Lancers sounded better than most sub - $1000 / Pair speakers at ...
Silly question, but I’ll ask it anyway.
Spark plug wires are not suited for audio.  They come mostly with resistive material  that inhibits  RF so it does not cause popping sounds in the car radio.
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think
Today is a paradox for audio systems.  Back in the day when sub woofers only existed in passive systems with large cabinets we were still happy. Purests in that time of the late 60s, 70s, 80s tried to sell systems with no tone controls as they do ...
Difference between Bluesound Node 2i and Cambridge CXN v2
This discussion is important for me.  I am on the hunt for a good streamer.  This is my experience.  I initially invested in a Power node 2i after reading rave reviews.  It was plugged directly into my router.  I do not want to knock this quality ...
CD Player vs. music streaming
I just got a Bluesound node 2i to replace some 45 year old pre amp power amp which still work.  In comparison to CD it is a close call.  I know the Little Blusound is not in the league of Naim, but I can say I am very impressed with the little guy...
VPI's new "Vanquish" Ultra High-End turntable is a STUNNER!
Perhaps it is just me.  If I had so much money like Warren Buffet the VPI would be affordable.  Affordable is a word that is an oxymoron.  I personally would help many people in need and opt for a Lynn Sondek at 10 or $15K and the Lynn would be am...
The imperfect amp: Pass or Ayre?
Talk about specs?  I own two 45 year old Crown amps. One is the DC 150A series II. The other is a PL One.  I have enjoyed for years the great sound. The specs on the older DC 150 A II will rival some of the best amps made.  Zero phase shift from D...
