Game Changing Tweak
Of the two extremist groups in our hobby, the snake oil salesmen do contribute as they stumble upon a tweak that actually works every so often. Other than annoying the rest of us, naysayers never contribute anything to audio. I’d much rather be au...
Most rooms don’t need acoustical treatment.
@deep_333 It is kinda funny when guys spend thousands of dollars on power cables and such, but refuse to spend a dime on the room. If we were smart, we’d spend 50% of our budget on our rooms. But we aren’t smart (myself included) Even though I kno...
Most rooms don’t need acoustical treatment.
my rooms have furniture and clutter.  These rooms don’t really have a need for treatment.  It’s snake oil, voodoo science.  If your furniture addresses all the acoustical issues in your room, yes. However, that is somewhat doubtful. Many home thea...
Do you care about car audio?
@sgreg1What do you mean by "sound better" in this context? I'd not take a second look if you said "enjoy more", but given the noise produced while driving and your proximity to glass which is know to produce hard reflections, I don't get that on...
What do we hear when we change the direction of a wire?
You’re not an engineer and you most certainly do not have any experience with electronics. If you read his posts you will discover and i know it because i have discussed with him harshly some time but with excitation also, that he is one of the m...
Do you care about car audio?
No
Is $2,844 too much to pay for a fuse?
I suspect the $2800 fuse is just a marketing ploy to get you to buy their $28 fuses. After seeing some fuses cost fuse $2800, a $28 fuse that can improve your sound (wink wink) seems like a real bargain.
attenuation
It may have sonic effects, but those effects may be positive. I have a similar issue. The attenuators themselves have a sonic fingerprint. Sit down, relax and try a couple of different settings. You may hear no difference, you may hear some. Only ...
Does a Tube Dac make sense?
A Tube DAC softens the sound. A sound that would not need to be softened if the DAC was able to avoid certain digital distortions. Tubes are a band aid.... ReNope that’s not true.
Adjusting the sonic fingerprint of a system.
@speakermasterGreat input. It’s given me food for thought.I think I need to throw out the attenuator on the amp. I’ve turned it up all the way on amp and it sounds pretty good.
Does a Tube Dac make sense?
A good tube DAC will produce sound as accurately as a good transistor amp, if not more. Anybody who claims tube amplification is not linear is, to put it mildly, “unfamiliar” with electronics and modern tube amp designs. Go with whichever sounds b...
What do we hear when we change the direction of a wire?
It always amazes that people are so arrogant that they don’t even accept that they have biases, and that their sited observations are totally prone to bias and that this arrogance goes so far to extend to insulting others knowledge, even though th...
Cable Elevators
I tried elevators a few years ago and couldn’t hear the difference. I think it depends on what cable and what carpet you have. Worth trying.
What do we hear when we change the direction of a wire?
@alexbergerHi @dletch2 ,What kind of knowledge do you have? Are you psychoacoustics specialist?Have you read any book about psychoacoustics?Do you have any knowledge of electronics or acoustics or the human brain science?Alex, I’ll have you know th...
What do we hear when we change the direction of a wire?
If there are no electrical changes in the signal, then there are no acoustic changes, respectively, hearing does not participate in the perception of anomalies. What other options can there be?The most obvious one; there are changes but we do not ...
