How much money do you want to waste?
Sugarbrie, I drive a sports car for fun. It's almost 30 years old and I havent bothered to restore it, so I'm sure I don't look "cool" in it. But, people do choose their cars for reasons other than transport functionality; comfort, handling, conve...
How much money do you want to waste?
Sugarbrie, you have actually given comfort to the enemy here. Consumer marketing is all about convincing people that they will feel better about themselves of they buy the right products. The more desirable the car, the more desirable the man. Fas...
no difference between 4k meridian & 400 DVD?
Way to go Natalie, or whatever your name is, offend just about everyone. Although I have no doubt that there are many cdps you might prefer to the Meridian 508.24, that doesn't make them better nor the meridian overpriced. I've heard them all exce...
Pleasant surprises, what have you run across?
In the same vein as the original post above, I just hooked up my 15 year old Mission Cyrus One integrated as a phono preamp feeding into an Anthem line stage. I recently sold my AI M3a, which was Class A rated and Mike Fremer raved about its phono...
Is my dealer lying to me?
Pbb, don't assume the reason the story the dealer told you about the line he no longer carries is true. I've heard all sorts of stories about lines dealers "decided" to abandon. I knew one retail salesman who, knowing my price range and objectives...
Is my dealer lying to me?
Gunbunny, you dont say which Panasonic dvd player you have, but it might be just as good or better as a cd player than the Cambridge.
Is my dealer lying to me?
Gunbunny - dont let him into your house. If you do, dont let him anywhere near your equipment. If you do, dont let him see your cables. If you do . . . .Seriously, dont let him into your house. If he is serious about making a sale he should let yo...
My system has just received the ultimate insult
LOLIn answer to 1), yes.2), it depends on whom you consider to be your peers, but since you asked the question, perhaps not.I bet she'd like mine better than yours. My wife appreciates it,
buying a stereo for my 16 yr. old
I think Winoguy may be talking about the Reference 500 series, which the UK buff mags said was pretty good, competitive at its price point. Doesn't really appeal to the audiophile market, but to those who want "good sound" (pleasant and tuneful wi...
Luxman T-117 Tuner
Hmm. Perhaps we should take a poll. Will everyone who has actually heard a Luxman 5T50 speak? I agree with Bryan here, even though he only said "maybe." Without trying to denigrate someone else's favorite(s), the 5T50 was one of the best sounding ...
I don't remember much, but I remember......
As a pre-teen kid I liked Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Elvis, Richie Valens, the Supremes, but I don't think I bought anything before the British invasion, and then I'm pretty sure it was the first lp released by the Dave Clark Five, followed by the ...
Reynaud vs. Spendor vs. Harbeth vs. Linn
You need to consider efficiency. Although I am a Harbeth fan, and have owned two pair of (pre ES) P3's, they require more power than your Creek puts out. I would go with the Linn Tukan or the Reynaud.
cajun zydeco
If he doesn't like the Putomayo Zydeco disc, he just won't like Zydeco. I think the cajun-creole Beusoleil style may be better for him.The Putomayo disc is a terrific sampler. I bought several cds of individual performers after receiving it as a g...
What have you been listening to these five weeks?
I know this doesn't help, but essentially nothing. I've tried to listen to 2 or 3 cds in the last 6 weeks but I just seem to have lost interest. I bought some new cds that weekend and havent opened them (e.g., newest from Alison Krauss).Good sugge...
What speaker to replace ESL 63?
The Harbeth Compact 7 is a closer fit, I think, and a lot less $.
