Why I'm not adding a sub to my 2-way monitors for music
Audiophiles who do this do one of two things. They buy a sub and set it to have as low a cut off frequency as possible, which is a HUGE waste, or try to blend them in without high passing the mains. In neither case the results are mediocre to non...
Wilson Benesch-Great or just Okay?
millercarbon 12,300 posts 01-01-2022 3:45pm The ones that sound great. The complete list is here:     Nice non answer. Your safest bet was to say nothing, but you never fail to disappoint when the expectation is absurdity.
Wilson Benesch-Great or just Okay?
I wouldn’t want anyone to get the idea that you don’t know what you are talking about, again.      No one would possibly ever think that…😆
Wilson Benesch-Great or just Okay?
Step up @millercarbon and tell us what WB speakers you auditioned…
Wilson Benesch-Great or just Okay?
Why don’t you specify which model you heard and what the circumstances were?
Big Below 15k used that can play loud as heck
Pair of LaScalas with 20 good tube watts. Forget about the dark, muddled sound of high powered Levinson junk.
Raven Audio and Beyond...
@mijale  If you have a small room and only listen to “girl with guitar” music, 20 watts should be fine. But if you care a whit about dynamics and realism, 20 watts with 85 db speakers ain’t gonna get the job done. Doesn’t matter how much you wish...

To the ones who say meh, have you really listened to them or just speculation?   I think you might already know the answer…
Where should the vocal image be?
MC Does SS depth really matter once you’ve screwed up everything else by using the speakers counter to their design? Oh and you did allude to “one size fits all”. It’s the same with all your posts. “If you want audio nirvana, this is the only wa...
Where should the vocal image be?
@millercarbon   Comments about toe in are off base. There is no “one size fits all” recommendation regarding soundstage depth and toe in. Not only is this very subjective, but there are many speaker manufacturers that say absolutely no toe in for...

I believe Ralph was quoting my post.
Opinions on Pure Audio Project Quintet 15 Horn 1 Please
I’m not trying to say the X3 isn’t a good speaker, it certainly is. I was an early adopter and kept mine for a year. Like all good speakers they have shortcomings and you have to decide if the trade off is worth it. I can see them being an end gam...
Opinions on Pure Audio Project Quintet 15 Horn 1 Please
@jjss49 and I had a similar experience. I actually replaced the x3 with cornwalls. I have since moved on to LaScalas but I think the CW IV is the better all around speaker over the spatial. Although I do agree about the outstanding bass reproducti...
Opinions on Pure Audio Project Quintet 15 Horn 1 Please
That was my take on the Spatial Audio X3. The midrange wasn’t fleshed out and “real “ to my ears.
How much of High End Audio is Horn Speakers?
Klipsch speakers are very particular about what you feed them. If this is a hassle for you, move on. They are also very sensitive to placement. Again, hassle for you, move on. Lastly, there have been numerous improvements in the Heritage line in...
