Done, really done!
Two years is nothing, you're still a webelos.  Stay happy!
Most overrated bands
To even qualify as overrated, a band must be rated.  It stands to reason that some people would then consider any highly rated band as overrated.  How would you answer the question, "what mediocre bands are not good enough to be mediocre?"
Store auditioning and then buying on-line from others. How do you feel about it ?
There's a special circle in Hell for such vile and loathsome behavior.
Great music few are aware of. Any genre.
Although not unknown, Ojos de Brujo was as fine a band as I've ever heard.  Just a fascinating combo of influences, technique and energy. In a different genre, Steel Pulse, particularly the early albums, were mesmerizing.
Someone tried Quad ESL63 and Magnepan 1,7in the same system?
I can honestly say I would not have thought of doing that, but after some reflections, it's brilliant!  Would love to see photos of your listening room.  It wasn't that long ago that I had two different loudspeakers sourced by a single digital com...
Any More Hotels with Turntables?
There's an element of hipster trendiness, but it's still kind of nice.  The article doesn't mention the turntable brands or other elements of the system, assuming it's component based.  Imagine if there was a true audiophile oriented hotel.  You c...
Why is it so easy to tell the difference between live and recorded music?
AR chose small ensembles or solo instruments for their tests.  A symphony orchestra would be a far more challenging.I don't think it's always easy to tell the difference since there have been specific occasions where I've been fooled, but in gener...
Why is it so easy to tell the difference between live and recorded music?
Back in the 1960s AR marketed their AR3a loudspeakers with a live vs. recording demonstration.  A string ensemble, solo violinist or guitarist would play a piece and at some point the sound would be switched to a recording.  Listeners would then b...
Most overrated bands
The most influential post war blues guitarist, T-Bone Walker, danced.  The most influential R&B performer ever, James Brown, danced.  And even Mick Jagger got moves like Jagger.  Micheal Jackson, Prince, Beyonce, Elvis, etc., I guess none of t...
Gradient Revolution Opinions
The Gradients excel at the realistic reproduction of bass frequencies even if they don't go ultra low.  The bass modules were developed as subwoofers for the Quad electrostatics and they possess that level of transparency.  The woofer modules do l...
Michael Fremer's system
I wish I had the ability to look at a room and tell whether this or that equipment will sound good in that room.  How is that any different than looking at specs and predicting sound qualities?  Any number of manufacturers and other reviewers who ...
My rant; we don't know what we don't know
One of the most common posts on this site goes like this:  My system sounds fantastic, but I want to change it.  Apparently, people just don't when to leave well enough alone.Happiness is that moment before you need more happiness. And that quote i...
Why does my system now have shrill top end.
If it's not the system, the room or environmental factors, then all that's left is you.  What's different about you since this has occurred?  Change in medications, different diet, exposure to loud noises, etc.?But before worrying about that, I wo...
Stand alone tweeter?
When the Totem Forest loudspeakers were reviewed in Stereophile the measurements showed a lively lower treble coupled with strong resonant behavior above 20kHz.  You're obviously very sensitive to this.  Your only true solution is to get a differe...
How expensive are best NOS tubes ? And how difficult to find ?
I agree with the above comments saying it depends on the specific tube and the application.  There are some very rare and high priced tubes, but overall there is no problem finding great sounding tubes.  It's been my experience that price doesn't ...
