Does It have to be loud?
Depending upon the specific bass design a loudspeaker that is flat to 55Hz could be down 6-12dB at 27Hz.  That would indicate strong bass response into at least the mid 30Hz area.  This might not satisfy classical organ fans, but it would more tha...

There are other threads on Audiogon where members report their typical listening levels and IIRC most people are listening at far less than 95dB.  Having a system (and room) that is capable of cleanly playing at over 100dB is nice, but it's just n...

A good strategy for system building is to get a loudspeaker that at a minimum doesn't have to fight your listening room.  The Focals with their broad upper midrange and treble dispersion are at war with your extensive glass room.  As an alternativ...

Bdp24, thanks for starting this thread.  The Band deserves all the accolades heaped upon them and more.  They truly were one of the greatest.  However, you do them a disservice by slighting some of their later albums.  "Stage Fright", "Cahoots" an...

One of the best business decisions a band can make is to give writing credits to everyone in the band.  Check out the early Van Halen.  Do you really think David Lee Roth co-wrote "Eruption"?  The entire band credit is not a cure all, but it remov...
Wide dispersion + high efficiency + detail + coherence in a speaker?
The Zu line of loudspeakers have nearly all of what you are looking for.  I don't believe they have the wide dispersion.

What sort of a chimeric abomination is a "michiganbuckeye"?  Have you no shame!

Minori, it's Beatles, not beetles.  Paul developed into one of the finest bass players in rock.  George was a very good guitarist.  It's also inaccurate to say that jazz and blues players are the best in the world.  There are first rate musicians ...

One of the most patriotic and traditional American values is to hold those in elected offices accountable for their actions.  Sometimes the judgement is deservedly harsh.

Hendrix was an R&B/blues/rock player, so the prospect of doing a session with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard and Ray Brown playing jazz could have easily been intimidating.Jones said he met the Beatles in 1963/64.  His comments w...
Quincy Jones Interview
His comments about music are very astute.  The Beatles weren't very good musicians when he met them, Hendrix was scared to play with top echelon jazz musicians, Micheal Jackson didn't share credit easily and modern pop production is unimaginative....
