"Transferred from original analogue master tapes" Daptone Records built their own all analog studio to get a specific sound for their artists. They didn't even use digital reverbs and instead went with spring and plate units. Here's a short video about the studio by one of the label's founders ...

Nietzsche and Runaway Audio Consumption The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool. There is more knowledge about humanity to be found in art than philosophy. The more that the universe seems comprehensible, the more it also seems ...
Nietzsche and Runaway Audio Consumption There's a theory that Prof. Moriarty wasn't real, but a product of Holmes' cocaine addled mind. A highly intelligent individual with an inquiring mind connected the dots of seemingly random events and concluded that it was all part of a masterful...
Why not use a piece of silver wire instead of a jumper cable? As an audiophile why would you want to make something simple and cheap when you can make it complicated and expensive?

When someone asks what amp should they buy one...
The Boss is the Bo$$ Sounds like a very good deal for Springsteen. Artistically, it could be a great move if it spurs him to move on from his old catalog and start creating something new. Does he really want to sing "Rosalita" or "Born To Run" one more time? He's o...
Why recordings made before 1965 sound better. Why the fixation on Dolby? So many other factors contributed to the changes in sound quality that to single out Dolby is misguided. Just my opinion.
Why recordings made before 1965 sound better. I never understood why multi generation mix downs were accepted as means to an end without any consideration of downgrading quality. Consideration was given to generational loss, but it was balanced against the extra freedom allowed to the arti...
RIP oregonpapa You'll be missed.
Why recordings made before 1965 sound better. rvpiano, from your comments I'm not sure you understand how Dolby works. It boosts selected low level signals during recording and lowers them during playback. There's no replacing of high frequencies. |
