Efficiency of speakers? There is not a direct connection between speaker sensitivity and transient response. That said, some speakers acheive high sensitivity by using massive magnet structures coupled with very light weight cones which should make them very quick soundi...
Jimmy Page? Yeah, but wasn't it really Dave Davies playing on "Stairway"?
What is the optimal temperature/humidity for audio It varies by component. Several catridge makers will actually include a recommended range. Metal dome tweeter sound off when the temperature sinks to low. Paper cone/rubber cone drivers can be sensitive to humidity. But looking at it from the equi...
Tube amp location Many posters seem concerned about the transmission of vibration from the speaker cabinet to the amplifier if the amp is placed on top of the speaker. IMO this concern is misplaced and over stated. The speakers are not flimsy. The Cornwalls are con...
What am I missing??? And their mistresses are better looking than yours...But seriously, odds are that your system sounds better than theirs, at least to your ears playing music you like. It's funny how that works out for the chosen few.
Tube amp location It goes against audiophile wisdom, but you can place the amps on top of the speakers with little ill effect. Just be sure to place them on a solid surface that you can decouple from the speaker cabinet.

Room size for Cornwalls? This is a link to the room mode calculator on the Klipsch website. Enter your room measurements and then as a point of reference enter an 11x12x9 room. If you care about getting good sound the dimensions of your room are important.
Room size for Cornwalls? This is not a pleasant message to deliver, but I cannot think of a single relatively full range speaker that would sound good in a room of your dimensions. On paper your dimensions equate to a truly problematic room for bass reproduction. If you l...

Grand Prix Monaco review in new Stereophile- OUCH My read on the review is that Fremer thought it was a very fine sounding and well engineered/built product that only paled in comparison to his reference turntable which cost 4x as much as the Monaco. Also, carefully read his comments on the sonic... |
