Preamp with tuner.... connections question I like Jea48's suggestion. You could use the preamp outs but the signal will be going thru more circuitry including a second volume control. Tape out should be best.
Can I use my McIntosh MX 113 as a Tuner only Dbphd, Good idea. Just set the 18's input selector to phono when it's time to spin. It will be interesting to see how the Marantz compares to the CI.
Can I use my McIntosh MX 113 as a Tuner only Dbphd, Yes you can. Make sure the input selector of the 18 is set to FM. Whatever the input selector is set to, gets sent to the tape output. The 18's volume control will have no effect. That applies to Mcdeads 113 also. With the Model 18 having ba...

Old receiver, need more inputs ^ I cannot tell each and everyone of you how stupid I feel right now. ^Don't feel bad. We've all had those moments. Although, with a moniker like "Salad", it's easy to see how you might get "mixed up". :-)BTW, I have the littler brother 2252b. I u...
Subwoofer Advice For Stereo Music System, Not HT I like the Velodyne for music. If the REL is in your budget, they are nice too.DO NOT hook your sub up with the fixed pre-outs of the Jolida. You need to vary the output to the sub so its output goes up and down with the main speakers. Do what Gar...
mono blocks with a powered sub? Not sure why you're thinking monoblocks would be any different. Right now you're going from the sub to your stereo amp. When you have monos, you still run the left out of the sub to the left channel, in this case a monoblock. Same for the right. Y...
Can I use my McIntosh MX 113 as a Tuner only The MX-130 is basically a C39 with a built in tuner. It's remote controlled. You might look for the MX-118 also. Both video friendly.
replacement tubes for decco This last month I have been rolling different brands of the 6922 family of tubes. The NOS Amperex and Siemens always seem to be at or near the top of the list and this was true for my system.
Using two channel amps as monos? In theory you should gain aeparation with 2 chassis and a little more power/headroom with one power supply for each channel. Will you hear a difference? Try it and let us know.Only negative might be the unused amp channel not being hooked up to a ...
class d "but they didnt draw me into the music at all either."That would sum it up for me. I'm a big SET fan. The only one that has done it for me is the Red Wine Audio 30.2.I don't play my music that loud so I get away with what I do. If I did, Class D w...

Any experience with Gill/Art Audio Alana preamp I have the Alana along with a couple of their amps. I love mine. The 6922 tube, the Alana uses, is a great tube to roll so you should be able to dial in a sound you like.I'd like to share this with you in case you get a new one. Mine was new and I...
