Krell K-300i (with its optional DAC) vs. McIntosh MA7200 (with DA1) vs. ? (including DAC)
@bigtex22, yes; by all means, let us know how you make out with speaker placement after everything is seasoned or broken-in. That would certainly be useful information! I'd especially be interested in whether or not you felt the need to spike them...
Krell K-300i (with its optional DAC) vs. McIntosh MA7200 (with DA1) vs. ? (including DAC)
@yyzsantabarbara, thanks for that review! I had already read it. Your tip compelled me to read it again. Much appreciated!
Krell K-300i (with its optional DAC) vs. McIntosh MA7200 (with DA1) vs. ? (including DAC)
@verdantaudio, yes, that is certainly solid advice! I’m using the Marantz as a transport now with the MAC’s DA1 DAC (Pangea interconnects). What I’m finding is the DA1 might be just a hair "better" than the Marantz (e.g. tiny bit more bass extensi...
Bought a new McIntosh amp
@switchman, there are too many unknowns here for anyone to offer you solid guidance or information (e.g. dimensions of your sound room; musical tastes; speaker placement; acoustics of your sound room; etc.; etc., etc.). As such, FWIW, I offer this...
Krell K-300i (with its optional DAC) vs. McIntosh MA7200 (with DA1) vs. ? (including DAC)
@bigtex22, CONGRATS! My friend just informed me the speakers we were listening to that day were Sonus Faber Olympica Nova III. I'm sure once you break in your new playmates the sound will be just sublime! I'm just as sure you'll have a heck of a l...
The two stages of audiophilia
Here's an example of the OMG stage:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4b2IOOhJmxw
Krell K-300i (with its optional DAC) vs. McIntosh MA7200 (with DA1) vs. ? (including DAC)
You're funny! I should have added to my P.S. that humor is very much appreciated, as well! Thanks!Any reason why that Krell over the others? That's a lot of Class A power up front with heat sinks that seem on the small side. I would assume sweet s...
Biggest "bang for the buck" audio gear you have owned(in your history)?
This is a great question; one that touches the nostalgia vibe. Not sure this qualifies as best bang for the buck, per se, because, as an impoverished student in 1972, I should have spent this money on my education, instead of my first serious soun...
Krell K 300i Vs Hegel 390 Help
How about throwing the McIntosh MA7200 into the ring? (Close-minded and biased MAC haters need not reply!) All that Class A output on that Krell makes for a very hot amplifier, no? Seems like that heat sink is just not big enough. For about the sa...
Need advice/opinion in choosing Vandy 2ci or Thiel 1.5
I've been around the block a time or 3. The only reason I remember specific components and model numbers I've heard as far back as 49 years is because they impressed. I heard a pair of Vandersteen 2Ci about 20 years ago, now, and they impressed. H...
Recommendations for speakers with Luxman 509x
@trentgordon, as you may already know, more than just about anything else in audiophilia, comparatively speaking, speakers are a very subjective and personal choice. Different ears like different sound signatures, even with the same source equipme...
Putting an end to the audio cable debate! Part 1
There's obviously a part of all audiophiles who loves a debate like this!I agree with what I think Larry5729 is getting at and would also love to participate in something along those lines. The only way to credibly attempt to resolve this endless ...
Why the hate for mcintosh amps?
Like everything else in this world, there's no accounting for taste and, for some folks, it appears there are no bounds to ignorance, as well. If you always or nearly always prefer the sound signature of something other than a MAC amp... good for ...
Aren't you sorry you missed out on this one? It's already sold out! LOL
There certainly is no accounting for taste! I've never seen this particular TT up close & personal but have to say it looks pretty in the pictures. I've always liked the sunburst pattern on guitars. The Gibson Hummingbird was and still is one ...
Adding a Turntable Mat
Lots of good advice here!I second the motion to lubricate or make sure the bearing on your TT is properly lubricated! A good habit to get into is to check that on an annual basis or more frequently, depending upon how much you spin your records.Wi...
