Every day I see another turntable recommendation... @saulh, I confess at the outset that I haven't read through this entire thread. However, as some have suggested, going "all in" on a TT set-up can mean many things. Focusing only on TT, arm & cart is, IMHO, rather myopic. There are definitely ...
Turntable - The Next Step @gnoworyta, not sure I can be helpful here. I've done serious seat-time with a P3 with Ortofon Blue, paired with a McIntosh MA5200 and Focal Aria 936. Very, very nice sound, IMHO. However, I ended up going with a Mofi Ultradeck+M and don't regret ...
Recommended integrated amplifier for upgrade @auronthas, not familiar with your speakers but seems they are 4 Ohm jobs. As such, I would be very wary of the MAC MA5300. Nice amp but not sure its power supply is up to the task with those speakers. It'll drive them OK, I think, but not sure it...
Please settle a bet! As the creator of this post, I feel a certain amount of responsibility for it. It was and is intended to be, as stated, "as an exercise in vicarious fun". So, to those of you who've obviously decided to hijack it as a platform for political debate...
Please settle a bet! @mikewerner, if it were possible or feasible, I have everyone over for Scotch & tunes.
Please settle a bet! You reprobates are all hilarious! So far, the "best" suggestion is, buy the Scotch and split it while enjoying some tunes. With all this "enlightened " "help", this is probably what we will end up doing; not that we don't do this already on a regu...
Please settle a bet! @djones51, F206 or F208 for number 1 and why? What about number 2 and number 3 and why? @danager, can you be less sarcastic? If I recall correctly, the F208 and Aria 936 are or were comparably priced. Also, what are your number 2 and 3 picks and ...
48kHz vs 96kHz: audible? @mcdonalk , just a quick question for you: You say you were listening "in the background" while engaged in some other pastime. Once you noticed or sensed the sonic anomaly, did you, then, complete your final evaluation by doing some bona fide crit...
I am enjoying my analog system, but what can I do to improve? chungjh, as others have already pointed out here, a 10'X10' square sound room, with or without furniture, is a challenging listening environment, especially with regard to the amplification you are using (way more horsepower than needed)! How high...
Vinyl Newbie - So Many Questions! It's impossible to know, for sure, what's going on without having a close look and listen to your audio system, as well as the records you describe. That being said, the TT you have is top notch for its price point. I did some serious seat-time ...
integrated amp on a budget Musical Fidelity M6si is about as good as it gets at that price point, new.
Interesting information from Analog Planet on Stylus Cleaner Onzow Zero Dust. Update: Here's a little ditty I found interesting on this subject on Youtube: Is The Onzow Zerodust RUINING Your Stylus? - YouTube
Best TT setup for 2k Great hi fidelity sound from vinyl depends upon clean records. In addition to the TT, pre-amp, etc. have you or are you giving any thought to getting and keeping your records clean?
Why recordings made before 1965 sound better. Haven't read this whole thread but just though I'd chime in with this ditty. Back when I had a pretty good Denon cassette recording machine... you know, when dinosaurs roamed the land... I used to record cassettes to play in my car's cassette pla...
speaker choice for new 20x30 audio room @carzmaguy88, CONGRATS! This may be too little, too late but I hope you considered the electrical supply to your new dedicated sound room (6, 8 or 10 AWG; hospital-grade outlets; 20 amp. breakers; dedicated line or two; proper building grounding; ... |
