KEF Meta Reference 1's? anyboy heard them?
I know the Reference 1 and the LS50, although not the meta versions. While the R1 fixes bass oriented problems and congestion with the LS50 and is a way better speaker, it has the same KEF type sound. It also is not as bright, ime. The R1 also has...
Acora speakers at Axpona
Looks cool. Wish I was there to hear them. They remind me of YG's initial models and older Rosso Fiorentinos which also used Scanspeak drivers in an ambitious enclosures.
dust protection for turntables
I have a larger than average turntable for which I ordered a hinged acrylic cover from stereosquares that is about an inch or so wider than the turntable. I gave them the dimensions including cable cutouts. The hinged portion is too heavy for wand...
Axpona: Who's going & when?
Good to see you post, Sean. Hope you are doing well. Not that I am a particularly avid audiophile, I have posting since 2000. Haven't been to Axpona since they moved it out of Rosemont. Hopefully next year, though. Don't be a stranger.
most beautiful (looking) speakers
I like the wider baffle look like Voxativ 9.87 and especially the LaHave floor stander with a whizzer that I seen at a couple shows.  Pictures do not do that speaker justice. Some of the Cabasse speakers give me the newbie-jeebies. Giant eyeball.....
Need Help Matching to This System To Speakers
I really like the well balanced tone of Aerial 5t speakers, a goldilocks of pleasant vs open/detailed. Unfortunately I have not seen them for demo in some time. First hand experience is the only really experience...good luck.
How do I get the best soundstage?
I would rely upon your digital setup with music or a test CD for speaker placement. I like a laser pointed at a target at the listening position to achieve symmetric toe-in. The distance between the speakers - obviously including symmetry to the l...
Does Formula 1 racing and high end audio go together for anyone else?
I heard that Rega had help from an F1 parts maker to help tool their belts.
Vandersteen Speakers.. Are All Other Speaker Makers Doing It Wrong ?
I have a a lot of respect for Vandersteen. Driver/frequency integration is fantastic. The bass EQ is an enticing feature, although certainly not full proof in the case of acoustic phase issues. Every audiophile should hear them. Since they are so ...
Server for Bricasti M1/3
Thank you all for your insights. It seems the only direction is up.
Is system synergy worth having matched components?
I am in a similar jam. I found an amp that matches my speakers, which simply was correct vs wrong compared to other amps I tried. It is weird that it is balanced Levinson proceeded by single ended Lamm preamp. I have heard the all Levinson amplifi...
Speaker positioning: why do audiophiles neglect this so much?
A lot of us have come across a number of procedures and formulas about speaker positioning that rely on subjective listening. My experience is that listener position alters the LF response over speaker position at ratio of about 3:1 measured dista...
Commonly mentioned speaker brands?
They are the favorites of certain people, for sure. Every speaker has strengths and weaknesses, plus the ol' beauty is in the eye of the beholder thing.
Speakers: Anything really new under the sun?
Speaking of MDF, in the last few decades speakers have been developed with more ambitious cabinets in terms of construction and materials. Brands like YG, Magico and Rockport offer a refinement in sound that excludes MDF speakers, imo. While using...
Frequency Response
The manufacturer specification and the the measured in-room response are different, and the decision to include of subs depends on the latter as well as the individual preference and ambition.
