Cables under the rug.....
Is there a door at the "door threshold"? And what is the subfloor, wood or concrete? Also, what is the w-2-w carpet material, wool or synthetic? Does it have antistatic threads woven into it? These are all important with respect to deleterious eff...
Mcintosh 275's or Marantz Model 9's What would you
What vintage is the 275, and what is he asking for the Marantz 9 pair v. the 275? (You understand that a decent pair of Model 9's is worth between 15 and 20 thousand?)
The Irrational But Efficacious CD Tweak
The Purist disc works great, but you have to leave the house while it's DOING your system (it's shy! ;-)) otherwise you'll suffer physiological AND psychological after effects! I've also noticed that for several weeks after use, the house is free ...
Any previous Wadia users?? Or did everyone move?
Talon4, that's very interesting. I've occaisionally run across folks who had owned both EMM and Wadia, but it was always that they went from Wadia to EMM and never went back (or course I can't remember which models) but your report makes for some ...
Any previous Wadia users?? Or did everyone move?
It seems clear to me: Boodidheadfi feels if, like him, you own a Wadia, there's really nothing to discuss. And ever since he's owned his Wadia, he's spent much less time on audio forums. So?.
Tuff question= Banana plug to adapt to Spade ?
I use these attractive and reasonably priced PSAudio spade>>banana adaptors:http://www.psaudio.com/products/spadetobananaadapter.aspalong with the gold "forks" to attach the fat Purist speaker cable spades to my old-fashioned McIntosh barrie...
My new room is 8 x 16 x 32, what to do?
I agree w/ 61: "BTW, great sounding rooms don't have to conform to golden ratios." You can certainly find hundreds of articles/advice on GS rooms and acoustics (type: "golden section" and acoustics into Google) but resonance and harmonic frequenci...
Infinity 2000A??
According to one of the websites, the MSRP was around $550 I think. So I'd guess for a pristine specimen, maybe two to four times that, depending on the demand?.
Infinity 2000A??
Here are some nice links:http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=14977http://www.infinity-forum.de/2000A.htmlHave fun!
Any previous Wadia users?? Or did everyone move?
I've stayed with Wadia (thru thick and thin -- for them!) since 1990. Properly set up with other high quality components, they are the most musical (Redbook) digital equipment I've heard. They even do a great job with HDCD because they employ thei...
Direct Line Question
Do Coriolis forces apply to electromagnetic energy? That's a new one on me. Twisting the wire would help reject RFI, but I don't think Romex will twist enough to do that very well. People do twist separate insulated conductors before pulling them ...
Unhappy with tubes so which transistor amp?
You are not unhappy with tube amps, you are unhappy with the ARC tube amp. You love the sound but don't want maintenance/reliability headaches. Understood. What you want is a great sounding, low maintenance tube amp. I suggest a pair of new McInto...
Phono stage noise after some time
Well I'd clean all the contacts, potentiometers/switches, RCA male/female connections, tube pins/sockets (if any), and see if that helps. Humidity can be a real problem in those parts and (especially) when you don't run the A/C, you should run a d...
Direct Line Question
It shouldn't make that much difference, especially if you run each in its own conduit. If it's Romex, you might want to keep them about 6" apart.
