Setting up a 2 channel listening room
Maybe get them to install 2 by 4 gang 20amp outlets instead of just the one. Also consider adding outlets where you might add monoblocs.
Two turntable setup ideas to go with an SPU cart
However I wouldn't get too hung up on the 12 versus 9 inch choice.

Sunnyboy, mostly on cost. The Jelco 750 is very capable for the money and on a good deck works very well. The Ortofon would push the price up a lot. Fjn04, That is why I recommended the Audio Grail version. You will have no technical issues with a...
Audio Research pre-amps?
Try replacing the Kimbers with 12 gauge house wiring cable. Strip out the black and white wires and gently twist them. Cheap experiment.

Yeah... they are small brass compression rings. Ideal as they have low mass but are rigid and have relatively sharp edges. And they are brass which can sound good.
Honey I Shrunk The Krells
Kudos for the snappy subject line. Even my wife laughed.
Why so many linn lp12s for sale

Turntable sitting on 3 feet made up of a brass plumbing bushing ring sitting on a granite sample block. 2 at the back, 1 at the front. You could also place 3 of the rings under each block. Almost free and very effective.

A speaker so loud it can kill you
There are trucks with those cursed back up beepers louder than a sonic weapon outside my office.

Second thoughts: buy a used 401, a 12" Jelco arm and an Ortofon Bronze and order a plinth from the guy on eBay. Figure 800 for the deck, 700 for the arm and cable, 400 for plinth and 500 (or starter AT95 for 100) for cartridge. A bit of reading on...

Put down the $2k on the Garrard rig and the rest either on the credit card or work something out with the dealer.
