Please give me advice about an ARC VT 200 amp Thanks Ralph. Apologies for laboring the issue.
What does moving from a 150 watt amp to a 400 watt amp get you? @douglas_schroeder Your analogy fails because you changed 2 parameters with the assumption the new amp had a different (better?) quality. Reverse the terms such that the older man is heavier and see if it still holds true.

Romex and breaker switches I use 8 gauge teminating in a surface L5-20R. Plug is a L5-20L with 8 gauge to box with 4x20amp receptacles. 20A breaker.
I learned the hard way Do not plug a 220v LP12 (which you rewired for 110v last year and forgot) into a step up transformer and apply 220v to the now 110v board.

Please give me advice about an ARC VT 200 amp Yes. So pass me the 700watt bulb! #variac

Please give me advice about an ARC VT 200 amp @atmasphere I did read it all the way through. And with increasing incredulity with each sentence! However, I'll defer to your experience. I always play by the book when working on tube amps.
Please give me advice about an ARC VT 200 amp @atmasphere I am surprised you dismissed using a variac especially with an expensive amp full of electrolytics not used for 3 years. Also surprised about not loading the outputs. If anything was to go wrong, it is good practice to protect the amp....
New idler for Garrard 401 That is the oldest website ever! 1998 and last updated in 2002.
New idler for Garrard 401 You are not the first. But you'll have to check over to Lenco Heaven. There seems to have been some issues with the rubber o-ring on the AS Lenco wheel according to some posts from a few years ago. So make sure to ask Simone at AS for the silicone...
Have you ever met another audiogon member in person? Never met anyone. No audiophile friends.
Please give me advice about an ARC VT 200 amp One other thing; these things will kill you if you mess around inside.
Please give me advice about an ARC VT 200 amp Plug it in and run. Kidding. There is a toggle switch on the back to switch between SE and Balanced. You may need to hook up a pair of cheap test speakers as tube amps generally require a load when powered up.Buy a variac and use it to apply power ... |
