Threat of fire from audio equipment
Reminds me of a 1KW isolation transformer in the TV repair workshop where I worked which went bad. It was mounted on the wooden partition and the really loud vibration and plume of smoke were astonishing.
3k Budget for Cartridge, Phono-Pre, and Cables - Recommendations Please
I don't think the Blackbird is a safe choice. Easily damaged. Ortofon 2M Black or Nagaoka MP500. MM over MC for him in case there are noise issues.
Am I asking too much?
The small filter caps won't help. The heater voltage hypothesis is not relevant in this case. The user is hearing quiescent current flowing through the electronics. This is normal.
I want to find these specific knobs
What about black?
Hear my Cartridges....🎶
SPU Silver sounds thin and spluttery on much of the pipe blowing, especially in the higher frequencies.

150 is clearer with more insight and I prefer it. There is something sweet and SPU Gold about the 180 though.
Anyone hear a Croft Integrated Amp?
Dude, you’re all over the place! So basically, are you saying you dumped the Croft 25R preamp for the Primaluna pre and a DV-P75 phono?
Sound changes when a campfire is between you?
Yeah, the air is the medium through which and by which sound is propagated from source to listener. Superheating its path will mess it up! You should try talking through a large cooling fan.
What is the best way to tame a slightly bright speaker?
Are the speakers revealing other issues further up the chain? Those big transistors or a poor source? Solid core speaker cables will help.
Phone Pre (new or used) Under $1000 to replace Dynavector P-75

To all my music loving friends
Happy New Year! May a Jelco 850L come your way...
correct order of connecting a preamplifier, amplifier, and speakers
I wasn't certain what the OP meant so I listed the connection order in case they weren't sure. Not everyone is technical. If not powered up, the connection order doesn’t matter at all. When all is connected, power-up; start at source(s) first, then...
Am I the only one that finds the "Round thumbnail frames" irritating on classifieds?
If AGon are like many businesses, they may have got stiffed on the design by overcharging consultants and would get ripped off again making further changes out of scope.
correct order of connecting a preamplifier, amplifier, and speakers
1. Source interconnect cables to Preamp input.2. Preamp output to power amp input.3. Power amp output to speakers.
