What is wrong with audiophiles? Your pals were sending you up!
Mattresses, not stereos is where the money is At least you didn't fall for a Tempurpedic. We sent one back after a few days as it was like sleeping in a polystyrene mold. It also outgassed an awful toxic odor.
Phono Preamp Tube Rush It's also possible that some phono amps "throttle down" gain with no signal present. That would give a false reading on the ear to speaker test.
Stylus Profile Discussion Agreed. I have Shibata, extended line contact, Paratrace and Microscanner and never worried any more than dialing in VTA when it came to setting them up.
Can the Rega Elex-R Drive It? Damn forum error lost my long answer.Klipsch RM600 is very good at good price. If I was buying, I’d try the 60 day trial of the Tekton Impact Monitor at $2k delivered.
Can the Rega Elex-R Drive It? Elac’s site specs them at 6 ohms. The Rega is speced at 90w into 6 ohms. You’ll be fine especially as you don't play too loud. You are setting the limits on your expectations by dismising floor- standing units.
Phono Preamp Tube Rush I use a number of Deccas inc the SG and cannot recall this issue with my Croft 25R with Shuguang Black 12AX7LS. But then again, between vinyl roar, and tape hiss on older recordings, you’re making me second guess what I feel is a near silent amp. ...
Which vintage direct drive? @halcro uses a TT-101. Nice arm.
Funny Story No kidding. I dropped a 90 pound TVA1 amp during a move. It hit the pine flooring corner down and penetrated the floor.
WTF? Probably a "bounce" in the website/database code caused by a spam-checking filter, a scan hit from the anti malware engine, or a packet drop etc.
SUT's -Looking for one with some meat on the bones You could try a few cheap fixes. Tube roll your phono stage.Add a DIY felt ring around the dome on the tweeters.Solid core speaker cables.Drop your tonearm a fraction.
ART7 vs. ART9 vs. OC9X-series vs. Soundsmith Zephyr MIMC Star Note that the Soundsmith comes in a new more attractive housing. The old series were fugly.
Whats on your turntable tonight? This Mortal Coil - Filigree and Shadow (4AD 1986) The best of avant garde 80s music. They really did believe the multi-channel polyphonic synth would change the world. Classic.
Whats on your turntable tonight? Hawkwind - Sonic Attack (RCA 1981) Bought it when it was released. Holographic sound. Turn it up!
