Saxaphone vs. Trumpet...Which do you prefer? Trumpets are great when you're done with too much Sax. Flutes in jazz are really annoying.Let's not forget Buddy Tate, Wallace Davenport, Erskin Hawkins, Sam Butera, Lester Young, Cootie Williams, Harry Edison, Scott Hamilton, Haywood Henry, John ...

Roger Waters-Amused to Death @halcro Have you heard the Roger Waters 'In The Flesh Tour' DVD? Simply brilliant.
TT, 12" Tonearm. Who tried and ended up preferring 12" arm? Everyone knows dustcovers down close in the sound. :-) I found that out on my LP12 back in the 80s. Metal lids do the same thing to tube preamps.
Interesting difference between 12" and 9" tonearms Thanks @halcro .
Hear my Cartridges....🎶 Thanks for sharing that insider info. I had no idea JW would vary materials like that. Does it mean each cartridge has to be fine tuned for brightness by changing the "stylus holder" materials? Can you imagine the possibilities? Tungsten, silicon ...
Interesting difference between 12" and 9" tonearms @millercarbon There's no cantilever on the Decca. @rauliruegas The 12" Jelco 850, knife bearings or not, sounds fantastic with the Decca. @chakster The 12" Jelco 850 sounds fantastic with all three of my Deccas. Gentlemen, thanks for your comments...
Interesting difference between 12" and 9" tonearms @stringreen Set up exactly as the 12" except for overhang. They're on the same table. However, you got me thinking. The 9" has the standard Jelco base while the 12" has the Ammonite base. Could there be an azimuth issue? Would that cause surface n...
How much of your free time is dedicated to listening to your stereo? Usually a 3-6 hour session 1-4 times a week. Not retired or independently wealthy so huge chunks of time wasted working for the man.
Interesting difference between 12" and 9" tonearms Dan, My guess is the additional mass of the larger arm and possibly the better tracking ability of a long arm made all the difference.
sweet vinyl experience If you are only interested in noise reduction and not in digitizing or wave shaping the music, then it works well out of the box. I heard it in some detail at AXPONA. There is a slight sound degradation but the click suppression is impressive.
Hear my Cartridges....🎶 Speaking of different arms and decks and the difference they make, especially with your "Decca" LDR in mind, I just got my Super Gold back from John Wright with a Decapod fitted and new Paratrace stylus. I installed it in my 9" Jelco TK-850 and it...
Hear my Cartridges....🎶 I did some quick listening to both with the Strauss on the LCa. The FRS3 sounded slightly cleaner and more detailed if not a little thinner and edgier. Is it bakelite or hard plastic? The CF had better bass and control but lacked sparkle.
Lets see your listening room dimensions. 2 rigs. The Quad ESL near field is one corner of 40’x26’x7’6" with beamed ceiling basement. The other system is the corner at the other end but is actually almost half the space at the other end.
